The 19th annual meeting of the WAEH is approaching! The WAEH offers funding for 2 to 3 projects annually, providing up to €7,500 per project! Think about projects like: 👁️ Improving the information given to patients 👁️ Developing a tool for administering eye drops 👁️ Improving care pathways for cataract patients 👁️ Implementing task differentiation, such as nurse-led clinics for patients with macular degeneration In the last few years the WAEH has funded several projects, like the Patient Eye Drop Education Package, Medical Indicator Set development for Keratoconus and the Set for Primary Retinal Detachment. All WAEH members are encouraged to start their own projects and collaborate globally! The WAEH is gearing up for an exciting 2025! The Communities of Practice for Human Resources and the Communities of Practice for Nurses and Allied Health Personnel were a great success in 2024, and both will be held five times again in 2025. Check the agenda on our website and save the dates so you don’t miss out! https://lnkd.in/ecRnfN2T In addition, we’re launching a new Community of Practice in Research & Innovation, with the first preparatory meeting already held on December 16th, 2024. Four more meetings will be scheduled for 2025. We will also be starting with the Community of Practice for Benchmarking! So plenty of new things in 2025!! Looking back, the 18th Annual Meeting in China was a great success! It brought together professionals from around the world to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and strengthen our global network. Begin november vond de jaarlijkse bijeenkomst van de World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH) plaats in het indrukwekkende China: in Changsha en Shanghai. Met meer dan 200 deelnemers uit bijna 30 landen was het een zeer boeiende bijeenkomst! De zes thema’s voor deze annual meeting waren: ▪️ Vorm geven aan de toekomst: AI in Oogheelkunde ▪️ Vorm geven aan de toekomst: Innovatie in Oogheelkunde ▪️ Veiligstellen van de toekomst: Medisch kwaliteitsmanagement in oogziekenhuizen ▪️ Voorbereiden op de toekomst: Talentontwikkeling Oogheelkunde ▪️ Het redden van de toekomst: Duurzame ontwikkeling van oogheelkundige ziekenhuizen ▪️ Wie zijn de toekomst? Onze patiënten: Patiënteneducatie/voorlichting Voor ons was dit een uitgelezen kans om niet alleen inspiratie op te doen, maar ook onze eigen kennis en ervaring te delen. Samen met het Quinze-Vingt Hopital in Parijs verzorgden we een presentatie over het belang van het behouden van medewerkers, talentontwikkeling en het delen van kennis. Véronique van Rijn en Eugenie Rodrigues hebben als OK medewerkers een mooie bijdrage aan deze presentatie gegeven. Wat is de WAEH? De World Association of Eye Hospitals is de internationale organisatie van gespecialiseerde oogziekenhuizen, opgericht in 2007 in Rotterdam. Inmiddels zijn meer dan 60 ziekenhuizen van over de hele wereld aangesloten. Het Oogziekenhuis Rotterdam is niet alleen een van de oprichters van de WAEH, maar speelt ook een actieve rol in het bestuur (lid van de board van de WAEH). Alle aangesloten ziekenhuizen zijn "centres of excellence" op het gebied van oogheelkunde. Dit betekent dat ze allemaal gericht zijn op het leveren van de beste en veiligste oogheelkundige zorg. Het WAEH-lidmaatschap biedt unieke kansen om wereldwijd kennis en ervaring uit te wisselen, bijvoorbeeld via webinars, bilaterale vergaderingen, en speciale Community of Practice-bijeenkomsten. 150 jaar Tijdens het congres in China was het inspirerend om te zien hoe oogziekenhuizen van over de hele wereld samenwerken om de toekomst van oogzorg vorm te geven. Een bijzonder moment voor ons als Oogziekenhuis was de viering van ons 150-jarig bestaan, we werden in het zonnetje gezet met taart en zelfs gezang.
