Building Communities, Empowering People // Made in the Pacific Northwest 🌲
About us
Made in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1961 by brothers Tom and Bob Walsh, Walsh Construction Co. (Walsh) is a Pacific Northwest general contractor headquartered in Portland, Oregon with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver, Washington. Working with organizations that make fundamental contributions to the community has always been at the heart of our business--we are committed to understanding and supporting our clients' missions. We are a local leader in multi-family and affordable housing construction. Walsh’s areas of expertise also include; mixed-use; student and market-rate housing; healthcare; hospitality; and education. We have an exceptional level of expertise in wood-framed buildings, as well as a broad spectrum of other construction types, including concrete, structural steel, mass timber (CLT) and modular construction. Walsh is committed to diversity within our own ranks, and with our business and trade partners. Internally, we build a culture of community and inclusion for our employees, one where they are empowered to demonstrate our company value of generosity by giving back to the broader community. We are passionate about building responsibly for a sustainable future and in the delivery of high-performance, green buildings. We place a high priority on creating healthy, durable and highly energy-efficient buildings, understanding that a building which uses less energy will reduce environmental impacts and operating costs. We are about the marathon, not the sprint—we understand that partnership and innovation takes time through investment in people and ideas.

BRIDGE Housing has achieved another milestone in capital markets by becoming the first nonprofit housing provider to issue publicly offered tax-exempt construction bonds. This offering raised $71.5 million to help finance hollywoodHUB, a major new affordable housing community in Portland, Oregon, and was four-times oversubscribed – reflecting strong investor confidence in BRIDGE. This type of bond enabled us to borrow at a below-market rate, saving $2.5 million in construction costs. A huge thanks to KeyBanc Capital Markets for underwriting the offering, KeyBank Community Development Lending and Investment for providing equity and debt financing, and BRIDGE’s Capital Markets and Development teams for extending our legacy of tapping institutional capital to create affordable housing. We look forward to breaking ground soon! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gtSF3esk

A heartfelt thank you to the Professional Business Development Group (PBDG) for hosting an incredible evening and honoring Bob Walsh and Walsh Construction Co. with the prestigious Building Legacies Award! The 2024 PBDG Building Legacies Gala was a wonderful celebration of community, impact, and the progress we've made together this year. From inspiring stories to meaningful connections, it was a night to remember! We are deeply grateful to the PBDG family for the event and for their incredible work in the community. PBDG is committed to advocating for equity and inclusion in the construction industry, offering mentorship, and providing critical resources to minority and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs). Our Walsh team has officially completed work at the vibrant Four Amigos Beloved Community in the heart of Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood. This six-story, U-shaped building will significantly benefit the south Seattle community by providing 87 affordable family-size homes, affordable bilingual childcare services provided by El Centro de la Raza, and a new 2,600 square-foot home for the Church of Hope. The building’s design embodies El Centro de la Raza's vision to address the needs of the families they support, featuring a central outdoor play area, efficient space utilization, and elements representing the Afro-Latinx community through vibrant colors, hand-painted tile murals, and sculptures. A huge shoutout to our great team of Sandi Tovias, Joe Geise, BJ Graham, Jesus Montiel, Anthony Sherman, and Wendy Kato for delivering this project safely and to the highest level of quality!
