About us

Wayne State University is committed to creating a sustainable environment on its Midtown Detroit campus. As part of our efforts to ensure an attractive, user-friendly campus that supports and accommodates the needs of students, faculty and staff, the university embraces the values of environmental stewardship. Campus sustainability goals: - Establish a campus-wide waste reduction initiative that encompasses reduction and reuse of materials. - Develop and implement funding tools that directly support sustainability initiatives. - Increase sustainable food practices of campus foodservice operations through local sourcing. - Increase programs and opportunities of awareness related to alternative transportation options. - Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Wayne State University by 25% below 2014 average levels by 2022. - Use the campus as a learning laboratory for sustainability while integrating environmentally-based learning into a broader cross-section of the academic curriculum.
