Thanks to ECAT - Escambia County Area Transit, individuals are being transported from other emergency shelters to ensure they have a warm place to stay. For those on the streets who are unable to get to the Mission on their own, an Escambia County deputy or Pensacola Police officer will bring them upon request. Not everyone experiencing homelessness is looking for a handout— many just need a hand up!🤝 The housing crisis is a major factor driving homelessness—even for those who are working. According to the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness: 💼 40-60% of people experiencing homelessness have jobs. 🏠 Only 37 affordable homes exist for every 100 extremely low-income renters. 💰 70% of the lowest-wage households spend more than half their income on rent, leaving them vulnerable to homelessness when unexpected expenses arise. Many of our program clients find joy in attending worship services, but transportation challenges often prevent them from getting there. To bridge this gap, we hope to offer Sunday morning worship services right here at the Mission. We’re looking for volunteers to lead as speakers or Bible class teachers to make this possible.
