Fantastic news from Waterkeepers Bahamas! The Bahamas is the latest country to join the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. Now endorsed by 16 countries, along with hundreds of cities and elected leaders, the treaty calls for a binding, international plan to equitably phase out #fossilfuels. BREAKING NEWS! Waterkeeper Alliance is celebrating the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s proposal to list the Eastern hellbender salamander as endangered under the Endangered Species Act! This marks a crucial step toward protecting North America’s largest amphibian and critical freshwater ecosystems across 17 states. After years of advocacy and a major court victory in 2023 with our partners at the Center for Biological Diversity, Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper, Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper, and Waterkeepers Chesapeake, we're closer than ever to securing protection for this important species and the rivers they call home.
