Happy #NationalRuralHealthDay! Today, we celebrate the strength and resilience of rural communities while highlighting the importance of improving rural health. Rural Americans face unique challenges, including higher rates of chronic disease and limited access to healthcare. A few key statistics: - Rural residents are more likely to have chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes than people living in urban areas. - Only 10% of physicians practice in rural areas, though they make up 20% of the U.S. population. - In a majority of states, 1 in 4 rural hospitals are at risk of closing. In 10 states, 1 in 2 are at risk. At Watershed Health, we're proud to work alongside rural health partners and providers to continue bridging these gaps and improving healthcare outcomes for rural communities.

🔥 Hot off the presses: Who do Community Health Centers serve? Our popular infographic is updated annually with new federal data about the patients served by health centers, the people who work at health centers, and more. Community Health Centers are nonprofit, patient-governed organizations that provide high-quality, comprehensive primary healthcare to people living in areas with few primary care providers.
