Exciting news: we’ve raised a $100M Series C, led by Greenoaks, and with participation from Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and other existing investors. We’re full speed ahead on our mission to accelerate the climate economy. We now work with companies that manage an estimated 479 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent––more than the annual emissions of France. We’re proud to support them on their work to reinvent their businesses for a zero-carbon world. Read more about what we have in store for our next chapter >> https://lnkd.in/eDZXzCwS

You can now sign up for a monthly policy briefing from our Head of Policy, Matthew Fisher. 👇
🗞️ Every month, Watershed sends a sustainability policy newsletter to our customers. As of today, we’re also going to share it publicly. We know that there’s a lot for ESG leaders to track in the policy space - our goal is to share regular updates that make navigating and interpreting the news a little easier. We highlight what’s most important for corporate sustainability teams, enabling you to better communicate the impact of policy changes internally. 🇺🇸 Linked below is the latest issue that we sent just after the US presidential election, calling out key things for sustainability leaders to keep in mind. The gist: corporate climate disclosure isn’t going away, and neither are the macro forces accelerating the transition to a net zero economy—though some aspects of the US IRA could be in jeopardy. https://lnkd.in/etJUnxK5 📚 The next edition will be published next week. Sign up below to receive it in your inbox. As always, let me know what you think, and what's of most interest to you and your team. https://lnkd.in/esdMcQcu

Last week I spoke with Senator Scott Wiener, the architect of California’s climate disclosure law (the CCDAA), about the future of climate disclosure in the US. (Link to event recording in the comments.) With the change of leadership in Washington, non-federal actors will again be the key players in the climate economy. The CCDAA, for example, will require US companies that do $1B+ in business in California to report scope 1 and 2 emissions starting in 2026. Beyond regulation, economic incentives—from cheap clean energy, customers, and investors—will motivate corporate action on sustainability. Companies with major purchasing power will continue to build new markets for climate solutions. On November 25, we’re excited to keep the conversation going with two more climate policy experts: Rich Powell, a leading voice for conservative policies to accelerate climate solutions; and Robert J. Jackson, Jr., a former SEC Commissioner. Sign up to join us here: https://lnkd.in/gzXnqcPg

This #CDP reporting cycle, we're proud to say that CDP used Watershed to calculate and report on its own emissions. Nearly 25,000 companies worldwide disclosed environmental data via CDP in 2024—and the data shows that companies taking this step reduce their direct emissions by 7-10% within just two years. We've long admired CDP for the outsized impact it has on advancing sustainability standards. This year CDP became a Watershed customer, and we couldn't be more thrilled to support its sustainability goals. Learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gcdwTBPg

Our customers—including BlackRock, Ripple, Samsara, and Block—are contributing to a sustainable future for air travel in a milestone deal that will add sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) directly to Alaska Airlines flights. We worked with the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) to channel our customers' demand into real carbon reductions. Their investments will address their business travel emissions while proving strong demand for SAF development. Learn more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gkQ2xaTf #SAF #SustainableAviation

Focus leads to results. At Watershed, we are focused on helping companies quantify and reduce their sustainability impact. 🌍
"Part of the power of new companies is that they are maniacal about doing one thing exceptionally well." 📣Taylor Francis, co-founder, Watershed Now valued at $1.8 billion, Watershed, based in San Francisco, helps hundreds of customers such as Airbnb, Fedex, General Mills and Walmart track one gigaton of emissions, close to 2 percent of the global footprint. It also helps customers take action to reduce them. For example, Watershed helped graphics software company Canva negotiate a unique solar energy procurement contract that will help its largest printing suppliers reduce their emissions.
