Last week, we visited Northeastern University to discuss findings from five MBA teams at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University School of Business. 🔍 As part of their semester-long class in marketing, the teams analyzed WealthMeUp and provided qualitative insights and market strategies focused on the challenges and opportunities of converting reward-seekers into investors. Here are their key insights: 💎 Rewards as a Gateway to Investing: Cashback rewards are a strong motivator, with 73% of users wanting clear links to how rewards turn into investments. Educated users often shift from focusing on the rewards to appreciating the growth in their portfolios. 💎 Generational Trends: Early 20s users report higher levels of doubt and uncertainty about investing and prefer tangible, immediate benefits like rewards and simplified processes. Mid-to-late 20s users shift toward future planning, with the majority favoring milestones and nudges that help them track and learn from their investment growth. 💎 Family as Influencers: Financial habits are strongly influenced by parents and loved ones, often shaped by cultural values. Parents play a pivotal role in fostering financial literacy and view the platform as a valuable education tool for their children. 💎 Gender-Specific Preferences: Women are 2x more likely to favor cashback rewards that improve everyday spending. They prefer automated, simple tools for investing, while men value control and customization. Women are drawn to cashback investments that deliver real, long-term results. A heartfelt thank you to Professor Nirajana Mishra and the MBA students for your creativity and in-depth analysis. Your insights are essential in refining our product-market fit! 🚀 Feli Oikonomopoulou | Adán Rivas #WealthMeUp #Fintech #CustomerInsights #Innovation #NortheasternMBA #EmpoweringInvestors

We had a great time at Carnegie Mellon University's CMUBTG event, connecting with aspiring entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts! 🚀 It was wonderful to have Adán Rivas Rivas, our Data Science & AI Lead at WealthMeUp, share his journey from Accenture to the fast-paced world of startups after finishing his MBA at Yale. 💡 His advice? “Be more than just a data scientist. Follow your passions, whether it’s art, dance, politics, climate, or tech. There will likely always be a way to add data science knowledge to the field you love, if not, that’s fine too”. 🔥Adan reminded us that data science isn’t just about numbers—it’s about finding creative ways to solve problems in fields that truly inspire you. Whether it's using AI to create music, analyzing trends in climate opinions, or leveraging data to make healthcare more personal or finance more accessible, the possibilities are endless when you combine technical skills with your passion. A huge thank you to the organizers Aditya Mittal, Kaylin Yeoh, Saanika Chauk, Sohum Walavalkar, and to all the students and attendees who joined us! #TechFuture #Innovation #StartUpCulture

We were excited to have our founder and CEO, Feli Oikonomopoulou, speak at The Women's Network event at Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY) 🌟 💡 We believe ideas grow through action and iteration. By sharing how WealthMeUp was built on the social empowerment of making financial investing inclusive, we reaffirm our mission to support women founders, who still receive just 2% of VC funding. 🚀

Had an incredible time speaking at the The Women's Network’s event at Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY)! One of the big questions we discussed was about the best moment to start a business. Hint: The best moment is now. ✨ There is rarely a single epiphany moment—ideas develop as you take action, refine them, and address real needs. For college students, this is the perfect time to experiment, fail, try again, and let your vision take shape along the way. 💎 WealthMeUp began with a strong why: to make financial investing inclusive and prove that every spender can also be an investor. It is a vision that continues to evolve every day as we identify gaps and create solutions that truly meet users where they are. 💎 We also talked about the challenges founders face—especially with fundraising—and the critical need to support other women in this space. With women founders receiving only 2% of venture funding, it is clear: this is not a passive observation—it is the result of active choices. We need to do better by actively supporting, trusting, and investing in women-led ideas to change this dynamic. A Special thanks to Jaidyn Hurst and Lily Scott for such a well-executed event and for leading with such insightful questions and discussions. And to everyone who joined and contributed to this meaningful conversation—thank you! #WomenInBusiness #Entrepreneurship #FinancialInclusion #WealthMeUp #YaleWomen #StartupJourney

Feli Oikonomopoulou ’24 is helping consumers turn everyday purchases into investment opportunities through her startup, WealthMeUp. WealthMeUp is a technology app that connects consumers with financial institutions, so that point-of-purchase rewards or cash-back offers are automatically invested into a consumer’s investment portfolio. "Our product also presents a tremendous opportunity for women, who control 80% of consumer spending and make most household purchasing decisions, yet invest far less than men. We’ve created a win-win value chain that benefits consumers, retailers, and financial institutions who partner with WealthMeUp." Last week, I had the pleasure of returning to my alma mater, Yale School of Management, to chat with Karen Guzman for their Startup Stories series. ✨ It was an amazing opportunity to share WealthMeUp’s journey and vision—to step in where financial products have often fallen short in making investing simple and accessible. At the heart of our mission is the core belief that every spender can become an investor. But most importantly, it was a chance to reflect on what makes Yale and my experience unique: it’s all about the people. Classmates, professors, and alumni who pushed us to think bigger and differently. 🙏 A big thank you to my friends and partners Anna Misley, Adán Rivas, Fanta Traore, Puneet Chhabra, PhD, Rohan Gurram, Jiacee Huang; mentors and professors Matthew Gira, Jennifer McFadden, Zoe Chance, Ravi Dhar; Nirajana Mishra and alumni and advisors Jeehyang Leung, Maro Sciacchitano, Vicky Kuang and so many others who have directly or indirectly been part of this.
