The newly-released #EU Fish Market Report 2024 shows fewer people in #Europe are eating fresh #seafood at home, but consumption of aquaculture products is growing. 💡🐟 📊 Per capita consumption of #aquaculture products reached 6.82 kg in 2022, the highest level recorded in a decade. 🦀 🏭 Kyokuyo Co Ltd has confirmed that its subsidiary Ocean's Kitchen Corporation, based in Washington, USA, has completed the construction of an imitation #crab meat (also known as #surimi) #production factory. 🗺️ It was decided to build the #factory in Washington, near Alaska, where there is a significant activity of Alaska #pollock surimi production, the main ingredient in imitation crab meat. 🍽️ 🔝 According to the Japanese company, this product is expected to gain more popularity due to its high #protein and low-calorie content. 🇪🇺 #EU hammers out controversial deal on #Mediterranean fishing days for 2025. 🚢 Despite #Spain and #Italy's opposition, the European Commission's proposed 27-day fishing limit in the Mediterranean has been approved, however the final agreement enables the Mediterranean fleet to increase to 130 fishing days by adopting compensatory measures to ensure #sustainability of #fish stocks. 📌 However, Spanish #fishingindustry representatives warn that these measures, which include installing different net mesh sizes and #fishing gear, may not be feasible for all members of the fleet. ✨ Read more on this story here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dnwgvQ5c
