Governor Kathy Hochul's recent legislation addressing maternal mortality and supporting pregnant individuals is a major step forward for maternal health in New York. The laws ensure transparency in maternity care by requiring facilities to share safety protocols and expands Medicaid to cover remote prenatal monitoring. These advancements prioritize equitable care and healthier outcomes for mothers and babies statewide. Public Health Solutions commends these efforts, which align with our mission to reduce health disparities and support maternal and child health. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3Za0irH

This summer, NYC Smoke-Free partnered with youth through the Futures and Options program to tackle tobacco control. Youth participated in workshops exploring the retail landscape, the dangers of menthol tobacco and e-cigarettes, and the influence of smoking in media and online. These sessions not only educated participants on the harmful impacts of tobacco, but also equipped them with powerful advocacy tools, including how to engage local media and write compelling op-eds. Check out their op-ed pieces below: - "Teenage Vaping: A Problem We Can Solve Together" by Stanley Chen: https://bit.ly/4fEsfiy - "A Flavorful Enemy in Fight Against Health Disparities" by Jewl Harris: https://bit.ly/4fSm1eq Together, we can create a #TobaccoFree future!

PHS was proud to sponsor ACQC’s Gala, “Season of Thanks: Our Community United." Held at the TWA Hotel at JFK’s Terminal 5, Executive Director Rosemary Lopez took us back to the 60’s to remind us of the movement for civil rights and charge us with continuing the fight for justice and equality. It was a delight to celebrate ACQC's remarkable honorees and our decades of work together to end the #HIV/#AIDS epidemic and build healthy communities in Queens.
