Wildfires in New York and New Jersey have brought the realities of poor air quality close to home. Smoke from the fires has led to significant declines in air quality across the region, posing serious health risks, especially for those with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions. These fires highlight the need for awareness and timely responses as conditions can change rapidly. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in smoke not only irritates the throat and eyes but can also trigger more severe respiratory and cardiovascular issues. Learn more about the health impacts and the importance of real-time air quality monitoring in our latest blog 🔗: https://lnkd.in/eajRJpV9 #Wildfires #AirQuality #HealthAndSafety

We’re proud to work with The Tower Companies and support their impressive sustainability efforts! Their significant reductions in emissions and solar energy initiatives are helping set a new standard for responsible energy management.
I'm extremely proud to share The Tower Companies latest Corporate Sustainability Report, highlighting both our recent work and our goals for the future. Some highlights below: Our operating energy use and emissions continue to drop; we've achieved a 54% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since measurements began in 2010. That's a bit ahead of where we all need to be by 2030 to follow the Paris Agreement. Check out our sections on electricity and gas usage to learn how we've achieved these reductions! Over 90,000 pounds of food waste are composted annually as part of the composting programs across our buildings; that directly reduces methane production/leakage from landfills. Check out the included links to our case study of composting in multifamily buildings to see what our rollout looked like, and let me know if you want to chat more about it! Our 2,615 solar panels are slated to produce approximately 1 gigawatt of annual generation--and yes, I do hope we can eventually hit 1.21 gigawatts to make Doc Brown proud. Let me know if you're considering a solar project at your commercial building, and I'd be happy to share our experiences! Reports are not only for bragging, so our CSR this year includes an outline for how we aim to decarbonize our portfolio in time for Tower's centennial in 2047. It's a lofty goal and will require a lot of work, but don't hesitate to reach out if you have any recommended solutions or questions about our approach. Finally, we're so happy to all those people and organizations who have helped inspire and inform this report!
