Whole-person success leans deeply into energy management. With whom, where, and how am I withdrawing, depositing, and reinvesting my energy? Same way we think about our money. It was a rockstar energy week! Here are a few highlights as well as tips on energy management. I am super excited to join Women United and connecting with Mackenzie Staropoli and Cameron Peden at United Way of Southern Maine. As a former single Mom, I couldn't be more passionate about their mission. Hooked up with Michelle Bryer, Dr. Dequies Lanier, and Amy Wood, Psy.D. to discuss how to "Delegate to Elevate" - key concept to be a human-centered leader. They shared many inspiring and insightful ways to elevate engagement and productivity while reinvesting your energy. Leaned into my partnership with a client to build their #business strategy while collaborating with a different client on a #culture assessment. I deeply align with their mission and purpose in the world. Energy boost!

On the way to get coffee this morning, I saw a vibrant sunrise over the marsh. I immediately felt gratitude. Once home, I jumped on my laptop to start the day and saw "congratulations on celebrating 4 years with WeMaax Consulting." Another moment of gratitude. The other day I met with a former colleague for coffee. She is taking the leap into entrepreneurship. 👏 She asked me a question, a question I get asked a lot, how did you stop being afraid? I said "I didn't. I don't." We have a belief that somehow fear should disappear. The reality is fear is a part of the journey. Liz Gilbert offers great guidance on this topic - invite creativity and fear on the journey. You sit in the driver's seat while creativity is in the passenger seat and fear is in the backseat. Whatever the emotion, acknowledge it yet don't let the ones that get in the way of your dreams drive. As I take a moment to acknowledge my four year anniversary, here are some insights: 🐘 Be wild - explore desires, experiment with the unknown, and enjoy the ride. A picture of me recently in the bush in South Africa - literally in the wild. 🎁 Be present - withdraw from those who are draining and invest in those who fuel you. When I am fueled, I am present, energized, and filled with joy. 🚀 Be honest - Only do work aligned with your strengths, values, and impact you want to have. Saying no simply means you are intentionally creating space for the work you truly want to do. Thanks to my clients, friends, and family who have supported me. #gratitude #honesty #wild #present

April is National Financial Literacy month to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy and maintaining smart money management habits. What if we had Personal Energy Literacy month? What if we believe our energy is a currency and must maintain healthy habits. What if... 💲 Our energy peaks at certain times and ways 💲 We understand how much energy to spend each day 💲 Energy management means greater returns My energy peaks when 💪 I am in the sunlight 💪 I dedicate morning time for exercise, creativity, and problem solving 💪 I have new and diverse experiences Each winter I spend time in warmer climates. When I make this financial and energy investment, my productivity, impact, and joy increases. Grateful for my Human-Centered Leadership partnership with Amy Wood, Psy.D. Through our work, we support each other in our energy literacy and habits.

A male executive leader recently said to me "Men have a responsibility to change and grow in their leadership while championing the advancement of female leaders." Yes! On Women's International Day, we celebrate all women and those who do their part to share power and create space for equity.

I coach leaders on whole person success - living a life that nurtures, honors, and celebrates all aspects of who you are. Taking time to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate is part of my success model. I practice what I preach. Yet guest what - I haven't been on a vacation, beyond a couple days with my husband, for for almost a year. What?! How can I be coaching leaders on whole person success yet miss my own guidance?! It is this simple - I got caught up in achieving. I love what I do + who I do it with. Because I love it so much, I can make it the most important part of who I am. My work brings me joy. Taking time off to rest, connect with my husband, and experience new places also brings me joy. It is important to me to create space for both. I also know constant achievement + disconnection leads to exhaustion. Exhaustion leads to burnout. So I have course corrected and booked time off throughout 2024 with my husband. We get to start over anytime we want to. We get to give ourselves grace and embrace a work in progress mindset. When we live in a world that values achievement above anything else, it is easy to lose your way. Come join Amy Wood, Psy.D. and I at the Association for Talent Development (ATD) session on March 19 from 8 to 9:30 am, ET, when we discuss what burnout is, how to prevent and recover from burnout, and how to restart when you lose your way - Get Beyond Burnout! #resilience #rejuvenate #nomoreburnout #connection #achievement

  • How are you leveling up?

My husband and I are entering the pickle ball world. We took a couple classes and now go to open courts. Yesterday we went to an open court we haven't been to before. Most of the players knew each other and been playing for awhile. Felt intimidating. I played my first match. We didn't win. My partner was disappointed. While we were sitting on the bench, waiting for our next match, that partner strongly encouraged I go to the beginners open court at a different location until I got better. You are constantly rotating partners. My second match was with a different partner - supportive, fun, and competitive. We won our match and equally contributed to the win. When I coach clients, we discuss leveling up - getting comfortable with being uncomfortable + taking small risks. We also discuss how they will experience people who support and don't support their growth journey. Yesterday I had a choice to make - which voice(s) do I listen to? Who do I give my power to? Do I stay or go? I watched the more experienced players, listened to my partners' tips, and got more comfortable. I also saw more experienced players have bad games. If my discomfort was to the level of impacting my performance, I might have decided to go to beginner's open court. But that wasn't the case - I am competitive and do better when I play up. I listened to my voice, supportive voices of others, and met a lot of very nice people. My husband and I begin our four-week intermediate pickle ball clinic this weekend. As we continue this journey, we will "level up" and seek out a supportive community.
