This week, our colleagues from POM Antwerpen hosted an insightful workshop with all of our partners. Together, we explored frameworks for energy collaboration in Flanders (Belgium), Portugal, and Spain, diving into each country's approach to sustainable energy transition and the pathways to accelerate energy-sharing practices. Did you know that there are around 130 energy communities in Flanders? 🧐 And that energy produced within these could be shared all the way from Antwerp to Ostend but NOT to Brussels? 😯 Attending an excellent workshop hosted today by POM Antwerpen as part of the EU-funded WESHARE - Business Energy Collaboration project which is sheding light on the realities of energy collaboration & sharing frameworks and eletricity pricing in Belgium (Flanders), Portugal, Spain and Italy. All these insights will help us develop and test business models for the wider roll out of the business energy communities across Europe. Our first Milestone in the WESHARE - Business Energy Collaboration Project is reached! 🎉 Together with POM Antwerpen we presented a proposal for energy collaboration within the Bosduin VZW industrial park in Kalmthout and Kapellen. 👏 Based on the different proposed options the board has decided to formally initiate the process of establishing a local energy community!

⚡ WESHARE was present at the #SMEAssembly2024! We were thrilled to be part of the SME Assembly 2024 in Budapest, where we had the opportunity to showcase the WESHARE project and connect with like-minded SME representatives and stakeholders driven by a common goal: accelerating the energy transition. Our presence at the Assembly allowed us to share insights into how innovative energy community models can empower businesses, and discuss how we can shape the future of energy collaboration. 🤝 Through the WESHARE project, part of the European Commission's LIFE Programme, we are working with our consortium partners to enable business energy collaboration solutions that are both only environmentally sustainable and economically viable. I’m excited to announce my collaboration with GENERA GROUP as part of my master’s thesis within WESHARE - Business energy collaboration, a brand new project co-funded by the European Union under the European Commission's LIFE Programme, together with Matteo Guidi. This opportunity allows us to explore innovative business models and funding solutions for Renewable Energy Communities among business parks.
