Yesterday, 200+ people celebrated Juneteenth, A Service of Joy & Healing, at Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge. Juneteenth is the celebration of the day that the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom nearly two years after it was issued. We were honored to welcome special guests Apostle Sarah Kelley, Pastor and Founder of Faith, Hope, and Love International Healing and Deliverance Center in Charlottesville; the Center’s Dance Ministry and Praise Team led by Faith Kelley; and the Reverend Dr. Vernita Baldwin, Lead Police Chaplain of the Hampton Virginia Police Division. The program also featured performances by WCBR residents and associates. All blessed us with encouragement and reminded us of the continued work necessary to make the world a kinder and more just place for all. Thank you, all, for coming.
