🚨 New WHAM Study Reveals Critical Gaps in Research Addressing Sex Differences The study, led by Nicole C. Woitowich, Executive Director of the WHAM Research Collaborative, highlights that inclusion alone does not assure that sex differences are meaningfully addressed in research. 🔎 Key Findings: • Out of more than 94,000 COVID-19-related studies, only 4% examined sex specific health factors. • Research led by women was significantly more likely to include sex differences analysis. • Women researchers faced disproportionate challenges during the pandemic, impacting their contributions to this critical area. Sex differences influence everything from immune responses to disease outcomes, yet these factors are frequently overlooked. Addressing this gap is essential for advancing effective and inclusive healthcare solutions. This study underscores the urgent need for systemic support for female researchers and a stronger commitment to integrating sex differences perspectives across all areas of biomedical research.
