Last week, WIML had the amazing opportunity to join Common Futurists for an IG Live discussion about reparations, #BlackLandBack, social justice advocacy, and much more - here are a few quotes from Kavon Ward that we've pulled from the stream! You can check out the full recording on Common Futurists' Instagram page! #BlackLandBack #WhereIsMyLand #CommonFuture #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice

Capital B News has just released an article detailing one of our families' struggle to access their property. Jacques and Angeletta Powers have been threatened, harassed, and physically obstructed from their land in San Bernardino County for two decades. The area is plagued by active white supremacists and a corrupt water company, who together have forced the family to abandon their land. Read the full story at bit.ly/powersB and stay tuned for developments as we fight for justice for the Powers family! #WhereIsMyLand #ReparationsNow #ReparativeJustice #RestorativeJustice #BlackLandBack #PowersFamily

Today, as the US celebrates Thanksgiving, it is crucial to recognize the dark underside of this national holiday. To American Indians, the day is marked as a National Day of Mourning. As the #LandBack has been a strong inspiration to our own #BlackLandBack movement, we stand firmly with Native communities in advocating for repair and restitution. Check out a few organizers we follow in the #LandBack and Indigenous liberation space: @NDNCollective @BlackIndigenousLiberation @NativeOrganizersAlliance #LandBack #NationalDayOfMourning #Plymouth #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #BlackLandBack

Thank you to everyone who heeded the previous CTA, despite this new development. Unfortunately, HR 9495 is on its way to the Senate for another vote after passing in the House, 219–184. Activist and humanitarian organizations have widely criticized the bill as a way for the government to silence critics and restrict the effectiveness of social justice movements. We must prevent this bill from passing in the Senate. It would be devastating to pro-Palestine organizers, as well as organizations like ours and our sponsors. Follow this link to access the toolkit and send a letter to congress! bit.ly/Stop9495 #hr9495 #BLM #BlackLandBack #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #WhereIsMyLand

Recently, we were invited by FutureGood to speak with their DEI team inside the Viceroy Hotel - at the very location where Silas White's Ebony Beach Club used to stand. His niece, Milana Davis (our Advocacy Lead), spoke to the group in an emotional speech - here are a few highlights! Thank you to FutureGood for this amazing opportunity and for supporting our work. We are also excited to congratulate Natalya Zernitskaya, Barry A. Snell, Ellis Raskin, and Dan Hall as the newest members of Santa Monica City Council going into next year! #BlackLandBack #WhereIsMyLand #ReparationsNow #RestorativeJustice #ReparativeJustice #EbonyBeachClub #SilasWhite #SantaMonica
