    I love the diversity of the people and organisations I get to work with, and the locations I get to work in too. Last week I was privileged to work with Circleg, an inspiring social enterprise bringing affordable access to quality prosthetics for leg amputees in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The problem - there are 65m lower leg amputees globally. A number which grows annually, triggered by growth of traumatic events such as traffic accidents, vascular diseases like diabetes, and inadequate medical care provision culminating in amputation. The great majority of these amputees are in LMICs, where there is limited or no access to quality prostheses ( or even any prosthesis). And there is a real cost to this problem too - The World Health Organisation identified that these underserved amputees in LMICs suffer from reduced mobility, and are often confined to their homes, leading to a state of dependency and exclusion. The consequences are high, rippling through the individual, their income, their family, and society, amplifying the impact of disability. Circleg's approach helps prosthetists in LMICs to serve many more amputees with high-quality solutions which are truly life-enhancing for amputees. One of the coolest venues I've got to work in, and the perfect setting for us to focus, learn and grow together.
