Providing clean water in the developing world using the innovative Village Drill and rescuing girls from FGM
About us
The WHO in WHOlives stands for Water Health and Opportunity. We work every day to SOLVE the scarce and contaminated water issues that plague over 1 billion people. We utilize the revolutionary Village Drill to dig deep water boreholes for underserved populations. We are solving the global water crisis through self-empowerment, onsite training, and sustainable water points. WHO is also an acronym for Women’s Health and Opportunity where we fight to eliminate all forms of violence including the cutting, selling, and trafficking of young girls.

Christine ran to our rescue centers in 2022 when her parents were planning her cut, called female genital mutilation. The Village Elders tried to force her return using witchcraft, but were unsuccessful. Today she is safe and training to become a doctor with a bright future! wholives.org/donate

It's Water Wednesday 💧 and we're talking about our FGM rescue that's underway and the girls in our care. We are in the middle of the cutting season and our funds are depleting quickly. These funds go towards food, housing, feminine supplies, counseling, education, and other needs. Consider these girls as your gift during this month of gratitutde “My name is Jasmine. I am the oldest in a family of five siblings. My mother is loving and caring, but my father is a drunkard.” “Living with my father and mother was scary. We feared for our mother and ourselves, too. Dad would beat us every time, even when we did nothing wrong. I faced threats from our neighbor, who would lure me by giving me 50 shillings every time he found me at my mum's "kibanda," telling me how grown up I was and how he should marry me." “Despite these challenges that I face, I am dedicated to my studies. I perform above average. I have dreamed of becoming a judge in the future, hoping to bring fairness to the judicial system.” We are helping Jasmine and 30 others with your support.
