  • This Christmas, we celebrate the spirit of homeownership with Nicole as she purchases her very own home. Nicole's journey exemplifies the power of community and the transformative impact of the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in action. On December 20th, Nicole celebrated alongside family, friends, and those who built alongside her as she received the keys to her home. Nicole, a dedicated mother of three, faced the daunting challenge of providing a stable home for her children after an unexpected loss of their previous residence. Navigating the complexities of the housing market, including limited affordable options and the strain of single parenthood, Nicole felt the weight of uncertainty. Recognizing the profound impact of a stable home would have on her children's well-being, Nicole turned to Wichita Habitat for Humanity. Inspired by the organization's mission to provide safe, affordable housing, she embraced the opportunity to build a brighter future for her family. Through hard work and dedication, Nicole invested 296 hours of sweat equity, not only contributing to the construction of her own home but also assisting others on their housing journey and at the ReStore. Alongside this, she diligently completed 40 hours of financial literacy courses, demonstrating a commitment to responsible homeownership that serves as a powerful example for her children. On that day, Nicole received the keys to her very own home! This achievement marked the culmination of her hard work and perseverance, ushering in a new chapter filled with stability, joy, and endless possibilities for her, Maverick, Bobby, and Nova. Nicole's home was built with the support from Wichita First Church of the Nazarene and Bank of America. We truly appreciate their support and thank them for celebrating with Nicole. Congratulations, Nicole!

  • A home is a blessing in many ways... On December 18th, Hakiza and Maria achieved a lifelong dream – they became homeowners! This incredible family of nine previously faced significant challenges in their living situation. Their old home was riddled with problems: a leaky roof, faulty appliances, and an unsound foundation. These issues not only led to high utility costs but also created an unsafe environment for their children. Through their partnership with Wichita Habitat for Humanity, Hakiza and Maria demonstrated incredible dedication. They invested a remarkable 552 hours of sweat equity and 40 hours of financial literacy courses, learning about the responsibilities of homeownership and actively working towards their dream. Their dream has now become a reality in the SoCe neighborhood of Wichita. They can finally enjoy the peace of mind and stability that comes with living in a safe, affordable home and paying an affordable mortgage. Welcome home, Hakiza and Maria! We are so incredibly proud of you and your family.
