It's great when you can pair fun with a good cause. And that was exactly what we did this when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hosted Beach Weekend against the Charlotte Checkers and the Hartford Wolf Pack. On Friday, we teamed up with Special Olympics to host our third annual polar plunge prior to our game outside of the Mohegan Sun Arena PA. Pennsylvania State Troopers volunteered their time to sit in the dunk tank and brave the freezing waters for a good cause. Athletes and police officers also hit the ice before puck drop to light the Flame of Hope, a symbol of inclusion and acceptance for those participating in Special Olympics. The island vibes were flowing on both evenings, with fans donning tropical gear, a Margaritaville Beach Towel giveaway, Penguins-themed straw hats available from DASH the #1 Fan Activation Platform, and laid back tunes to sweep fans away to a sun drenched paradise.

Here's wishing a joyous and peaceful holiday season to all from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins players and front office members spent some time on Monday helping to spread holiday cheer by volunteering with Valley Santa. The non-profit organization's mission is to make sure that no child in Luzerne County wakes up on Christmas morning without a gift. Last year more than 4,000 youngsters were aided through the program. Thanks to all of those who donate money to purchase gifts and those who donate time to make the kids' holiday a little brighter. #Community

Get ready to toss those Teddy Bears!
It's one of the best nights of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins season, and it's this Saturday! Our annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place this Saturday, when we face off with the Springfield Thunderbirds at 6:05pm. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped, stuffed toys to the game, and toss them onto the ice following the first Penguins goal. All toys are collected and distributed to families in need through Operation Santa Claus, a private charitable organization operating at the Tobyhanna Army Depot. Enjoy a great deal on tickets to the game, and receive a Plush Squish Penguin through this link: https://lnkd.in/e9Nhpvta

Helping our community is a big part of the Penguins ethos. Assisting with the CEO (Commission on Economic Opportunity) annual Thanksgiving meal distribution is just another way our staff is helping out in our own backyard.
I spent some time today with my Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins front office teammates handing out Thanksgiving dinner to those in need at the annual CEO (Commission on Economic Opportunity) holiday food distribution. The work the CEO does year round is essential to the well-being of hundreds of families in northeast Pennsylvania, and seeing hundreds of volunteers and workers come together to help out those efforts is inspiring.
