Serve Our Willing Warriors
About us
Willing Warriors provide cost-free retreat stays and programs that positively impact wounded, ill, and injured service members, disabled veterans, and their families. The average hospital stay for our recovering warriors is about 300 days. Following the healing of physical wounds, many of them are challenged with the “invisible wounds” of Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) for a lifetime. Willing Warriors is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization offering cost-free getaways from the hospital environment where the warriors and their families can come to relax, spend quality time together, and reconnect. Our programs include more than 40+ cost-free educational and recreational activities, including seminars that address the issues of dealing with PTS and TBI. The intended outcome of these retreat stays is the warrior and their family members return to the routine of rebuilding their lives feeling refreshed and inspired.

🎧 New Welcome Home Podcast episode - Navigating New Beginnings: Peter Baker on Military Transition and Finding Community in Civilian Life Retired Army Colonel Peter Baker joins us to unravel the challenges and opportunities of transitioning from military service as an officer. Imagine standing at the crossroads of duty and personal freedom, deciding when to leave the structured life of the military behind. Peter candidly shares his journey, emphasizing the emotional weight of retirement ceremonies and the critical steps of planning for life after service. Discover how resources like the GI Bill and veteran organizations can be pivotal in navigating this life-changing transition. Together, we explore the personal stories and strategic decisions that define this complex phase. As we steer through the transition into civilian careers, we focus on the unique hurdles veterans face, like translating leadership skills into corporate success and adapting to a slower-paced decision-making environment. Northern Virginia emerges as a hotspot, with veterans often finding roles in defense companies or exploring new passions, like teaching or coaching. Peter's insights on negotiation could redefine your approach to the job market, from salary discussions to flexibility negotiations. Plus, we reflect on the camaraderie veterans miss and the potential to find a similar sense of community in civilian workplaces. This episode is a must-listen for anyone contemplating a new chapter beyond military life. 💕 The Mission Continues with Impactful Warrior Stays... After being involved in a catastrophic accident last year, our Warrior guest was not expected to survive. She spent most of the Winter in a coma with complications of traumatic brain injury. She was released from the hospital in July 2024 but suffered a stroke in September. With prayers from over 100,000 people worldwide and the Grace of God, she is surviving and thriving. The peacefulness of the Retreat, hiking the trails, playing games, watching movies, and eating meals together were greatly enjoyed by the Warrior. She noted that the massage provided by Holly Crocker from Balanced Arch Massage was the best she's ever had. The Warrior was also grateful for the opportunity to benefit from her favorite pastime by swimming at Freedom Aquatic Center. Thank you to all of those who help make this happen by supporting the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run! #WillingWarriors #WarriorRetreat #Respite #Memories #SupportOurVeterans #UnitedStatesMilitary #Freedom #Service #HaymarketVA #PrinceWilliamCounty
