James Stent interviewed me this week for Mining Magazine, talking about what's put me in the Top 100 Global Women In Mining this year. And what an awesome human you are James! Improving women's safety is how, specifically my focus on the PPE problem. PPE isn't every hurdle women face in mining, there are many, it's also not just a hurdle faced by women. It is however, something we can easily do something about and we're getting there, one correctly fitting set at a time. The right basics opens the door to being safe, feeling like you belong, and progressing in the career you've chosen. Last Friday, the Education Committee had the pleasure of visiting Skyway Elementary in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to share our passion for mining with the second grade! We engaged 90 students and parents through five interactive stations, covering topics such as hard rock mining, environmental remediation, flotation, placer mining, and core drilling. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible second-grade teachers, dedicated parent volunteers, and our amazing committee members who made this event a success, Michelle Horning, PHR, Wes Johnson, Erin Buck, Emily H., Emily Sarha, Catherine Sheppard and Lori Koepl.
