The Harlem African Burial Ground is the resting place for freed and enslaved New Yorkers from the 1600s until the 1880s. Our Senior Project Manager Saradine Pierre shares how NYCEDC and the Harlem African Burial Ground Initiative (formerly known as Harlem African Burial Ground Task Force) are working to honor and memorialize an important part of the city's history.

#JalenHurts’ Super Bowl MVP win is historic—but so is the fact that he’s the first NFL player with an all-women team leading his career. Because breaking barriers in sports isn’t just about what happens on the field—it’s about the decisions made behind the scenes. Less than 5% of NFL agents are women, but Nicole Lynn negotiated a $255 million contract, one of the biggest in NFL history. His media and marketing team ensures his brand extends far beyond the game (maybe you’ve even seen him on #AbbottElementary? 👀). This is what leadership looks like. This is what progress looks like. #Representationmatters — on and off the field. Who’s on your all-star team? All you need is ONE. Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, champions have been my lifeline. Champions for me aren’t just the people who give advice. They’re also the people who open doors you may have never had access to so you can scale impact. This week, I'm diving deep with Clementine Jacoby and her masterclass in building scalable government partnerships as one of the few Y Combinator backed non-profits. Her breakthrough? It started with just ONE: North Dakota. By starting with just ONE UNSCALABLE spreadsheet that they launched on a Monday and by Wednesday ALL 50 states had downloaded it, leading to conversations with 36 states. Today— they work with 11 states and have impacted 75,000+ lives. 💥 My own "ONE" moments with government? Our Get Sh!t Done partnership with New York City Economic Development Corporation office. The fearless leader, Diana Franco, of Women.NYC and I had been meaning to connect for almost 2 years and in 2023 we finally got on a call to explore synergies. By 2024, our conversation transformed into a game-changing partnership, making the Get Sh!t Done Accelerator accessible to women entrepreneurs in New York City. The universal truth I've learned? Sales = Relationships. This is why I think the “hero’s journey” narrative is bullshit. There are no magical, sporadic guides. Your champions are everywhere—mentors, peers, partners, customers—present at every single stage of your journey. And you NEVER know when those relationships will turn into impactful partnerships. This week on the Get Sh!t Done podcast, Clementine Jacoby breaks down: - How to find and nurture a champion in a complex organization to drive partnerships & growth. - How to use “unscalable” strategies early on to gain traction and proof of concept. - How to balance scaling breadth vs. depth when navigating multiple customers or systems (e.g., different states or agencies) AND so much more. 🎙️ Access the conversation. Links in comments Clementine Jacoby has 40 states to go. Connect her with your government officials to help decrease recidivism in your state. A special shoutout to some of my champions. The ones who have guided me, got on countless calls, and have even been in the deal rooms with me. I am FOREVER grateful for you <3 Beth Haggerty, Tony Wilkins, Michael LaRhette, Matt Puccini #getshitdone #Shegetshitdone #GetShitDone #Entrepreneurship #BusinessGrowth #ScalingImpact #GovernmentPartnerships #Founders #Startups

I did a thing!!!! I normally shy away from attending networking events alone but this year I pushed myself to go outside of my comfort zone. I made connections with several women and men who I look forward to building community with in 2025. I guess I should let the cat out of the bag!!! I’m writing a children’s book under my production company!!! It will be published in February 2025! Thank you Women.NYC and New York Women in Business for an amazing holiday/networking party!
