These workshops are important for helping our immigrant and refugee youth discover who they are and embrace their unique cultural identities. Last week, we took examples from popular culture to discuss how symbols are used to express parts of our identity. Our youth then created masks decorated with symbols and details that represented their cultures, personalities, and likes/dislikes. Our CSP Fellow, Amar Syahirah, is wrapping up her fellowship with us this week. These past 4 months, Amar (center of photo) has been shadowing our immigrant/refugee youth programs and attending trainings and conferences to hone her professional development skills. Thank you to Amar for sharing her energy, knowledge, and skills with us. We will miss you! --- Amar is a fellow with the Community Solutions Program, a professional development program for mid-career leaders around the globe to enhance their leadership and technical expertise.

We are so grateful for the support from every person who shared or donated to our Give to the Max Day campaign. We can't believe high school graduation is just around the corner! This month, we gathered our high school seniors from the Girls Getting Ahead in Leadership program for more intensive, 1-to-1 college preparation activities. The girls brainstormed topics for their college essays, updated resumes, learned how to approach someone for letters of recommendations, and identified college campuses they'd like to visit.
