About us

Wonder Women Tech is a global ecosystem which produces the Wonder Women Tech conference in Long Beach, D.C., London and other cities, featuring a series of educational programming that highlights, celebrates and educates women and the underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics (STEAM) and innovation. Our platform offers a variety of speakers, panel discussions, coding classes, hackathons and other dynamic initiatives geared towards empowering women and girls and cultivating Diversity and Inclusion in STEAM. Our 2018 conferences theme #WeAreInnovators will explore the next frontier in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math and Innovation and highlight the women and people of color who have paved the way for future generations! Primary programming will occur on Friday, Oct 5th and Saturday, Oct 6th, 2018 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The City of Long Beach has made a commitment to sponsor the Wonder Women Tech Conference between 2016-2018 and we look forward to making this our greatest year yet! Our Junior Innovation Camp/Wonder Girl Camp is provided at no cost to participants, and engages students ages 8 to 12 and ages 13 to 17 years old with courses that teach coding, film making, game development, DIY projects and age appropriate entrepreneurship. We partner with cities like Long Beach, Los Angeles, London, D.C. and universities like Arizona State University and Cal State to offer Wonder Women Hacks and Hacks 4 Humanity hackathon programming, which allows developers, visionaries, technologists, UX designers and creatives to build mobile apps that will impact women and girls, or contribute to the Social Good.

  • Ten years ago TODAY, a bold vision was birthed out of our founder, Lisa Mae Brunson living room—a vision to innovate, empower, ignite, and celebrate women, underrepresented humans, and innovation in tech, STEAM, and beyond. What began as a dream has become a global movement that has touched countless lives and created ripples of impact across the world. The journey started with hackathons that challenged norms and inspired change. Our Wonder Women Hacks and Hacks 4 Humanity hackathons united people to solve social challenges. From Arizona State University, to Los Angeles, and Long Beach, these events sparked collaboration and ingenuity. The first Wonder Women Tech Conference unfolded in the iconic Spruce Goose airplane hangar in Playa Vista, where history and innovation merged. That event, powered by partners like Microsoft, Google, and Time Warner, set the stage for what was to come—conferences that weren’t just events but movements. From the streets of Paris, the stages of London, and the vibrant energy of Brazil, Wonder Women Tech has gone global, sharing our ethos of inclusion, belonging, and empowerment. Whether hosting pitch competitions, mentoring the next generation of leaders, or diving deep into space and AR technologies with our Future Forward summits, every step has been a testament to the power of community and purpose. We've launched podcasts, Fitted for the Future events, Mentor Magic Sessions, and have won multiple awards, including several Cannes Lions! Through partnerships with the U.S. Department of State, Virgin Galactic, NASA JPL, and countless other trailblazing organizations, we’ve created programs that amplify voices and build bridges. We’ve collaborated with cities, leaders, and visionaries to produce events that inspire, educate, and activate individuals to imagine a world where everyone belongs. Over the years, we’ve hosted thousands of speakers, performers, and attendees; empowered underserved communities; and cultivated spaces for senior, Deaf, and disabled innovators. Our mission has always been about breaking barriers and showing what’s possible when inclusion becomes the norm. This journey hasn’t been easy. It has been paved with challenges, moments of doubt, and uphill battles. But what kept us going is the belief in the power of our collective voices. To every partner, attendee, volunteer, speaker, and changemaker who has joined us on this path—thank you. As we celebrate 10 years of Wonder Women Tech, we honor the impact we’ve made and look forward to what lies ahead. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary. Here’s to a future of even more wonder, innovation, and empowerment. Let’s continue breaking barriers, changing narratives, and creating a world that celebrates the beauty of our humanity.

  • We are beyond honored to announce that our Founder, Lisa Mae Brunson has been nominated for the "Changemaker in the Field of Data" Award by Women Leaders in Data and AI (WLDA)! This nomination is especially meaningful as it recognizes not only her work but the collective movement of trailblazers in AI, Data, and Tech Innovation who are dedicated to reshaping the future. Being among such a talented and inspiring group of women who are advancing technology and breaking new ground is truly a privilege. The WLDA Awards were established to spotlight and empower women, bridging the gender gap in Data and AI—a mission I hold close to my heart. Together, we are transforming these fields and creating a foundation for the next generation of innovators. The 2024 WLDA Awards Gala will take place on November 15, 2024, in New York City, bringing together a powerful community to celebrate the excellence and dedication driving progress in Data and AI. We celebrate Lisa Mae's contributions, and are immensely grateful for this recognition and look forward to connecting with other change-makers at this incredible event. Thank you to WLDA and to everyone who supports this journey of impact, innovation, and inclusion! Let’s continue to elevate each other as we pioneer the future of technology. We have to keep pushing innovation and impact forward. <3

BIG NEWS! I AM ATTENDING AFROTECH 2024 this year in Houston! I was first honored with a professional development grant from my school Columbia University School of Professional Studies. I was also honored to be selected from many applicants to join  Wonder Women Tech Field Trip to AfroTech2024! Thank you so much to Lisa Mae Brunson and team for this. I feel so blessed to be selected for such an opportunity! I want to express so much gratitude to my professor Katja Schroeder, who has continuously aligned me with opportunities like this. Also special thanks to so many people in my friends and family who supported me through this! So many people who have helped clear the path to make this happen! As a mom making a career pivot is not easy, but being part of such an inclusive program as I navigate through my second and final year with the Columbia University Technology Management feels so amazing!!! I can't wait to share my experience! After last night, my fight continues at the intersection of technology, advocacy, accessibility, and culture. #techequity #techliteracy

I'm going to AFROTECH!!!! Around this time last week, I posted that I was looking for funding support to attend AFROTECH. Shortly after, I came across a LinkedIn post from Lisa Mae Brunson about the Wonder Women Tech scholarship, which offered recipients a ticket, as long as they could cover their flight and housing. I'm incredibly grateful to have been selected as one of the 15 people to receive this scholarship. This will be my first time attending AFROTECH, and I am beyond excited. My main goals for this conference are to secure a summer 2025 internship, build meaningful connections with industry professionals, and find potential mentors to guide me. If you’re attending AFROTECH, I’d love to connect and meet at the conference! #Afrotech #Afrotech2024
