Ten years ago TODAY, a bold vision was birthed out of our founder, Lisa Mae Brunson living room—a vision to innovate, empower, ignite, and celebrate women, underrepresented humans, and innovation in tech, STEAM, and beyond. What began as a dream has become a global movement that has touched countless lives and created ripples of impact across the world.
The journey started with hackathons that challenged norms and inspired change. Our Wonder Women Hacks and Hacks 4 Humanity hackathons united people to solve social challenges. From Arizona State University, to Los Angeles, and Long Beach, these events sparked collaboration and ingenuity.
The first Wonder Women Tech Conference unfolded in the iconic Spruce Goose airplane hangar in Playa Vista, where history and innovation merged. That event, powered by partners like Microsoft, Google, and Time Warner, set the stage for what was to come—conferences that weren’t just events but movements.
From the streets of Paris, the stages of London, and the vibrant energy of Brazil, Wonder Women Tech has gone global, sharing our ethos of inclusion, belonging, and empowerment. Whether hosting pitch competitions, mentoring the next generation of leaders, or diving deep into space and AR technologies with our Future Forward summits, every step has been a testament to the power of community and purpose.
We've launched podcasts, Fitted for the Future events, Mentor Magic Sessions, and have won multiple awards, including several Cannes Lions!
Through partnerships with the U.S. Department of State, Virgin Galactic, NASA JPL, and countless other trailblazing organizations, we’ve created programs that amplify voices and build bridges. We’ve collaborated with cities, leaders, and visionaries to produce events that inspire, educate, and activate individuals to imagine a world where everyone belongs.
Over the years, we’ve hosted thousands of speakers, performers, and attendees; empowered underserved communities; and cultivated spaces for senior, Deaf, and disabled innovators. Our mission has always been about breaking barriers and showing what’s possible when inclusion becomes the norm.
This journey hasn’t been easy. It has been paved with challenges, moments of doubt, and uphill battles. But what kept us going is the belief in the power of our collective voices. To every partner, attendee, volunteer, speaker, and changemaker who has joined us on this path—thank you.
As we celebrate 10 years of Wonder Women Tech, we honor the impact we’ve made and look forward to what lies ahead. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary. Here’s to a future of even more wonder, innovation, and empowerment.
Let’s continue breaking barriers, changing narratives, and creating a world that celebrates the beauty of our humanity.
