The Parkinson Ready Program Vancouver completed trainings the past few days with Vancouver convention center staff, Vancouver fire department, emergency health services, trans link and hotel staff at The Fairmont. The Parkinson Ready Program Vancouver has been a collaboration between World Parkinson Coalition, Parkinson Society British Columbia, PD Avengers, and supported by AbbVie and aims to reduce stigma and enhance support for individuals living with Parkinson's disease (PD) by training key leaders in the safety, transportation, and service industries in Vancouver. The World Parkinson Coalition Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing an international forum for the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices and caregiver initiatives related to Parkinson's disease. By bringing physicians, scientists, allied health professionals, caregivers and people with Parkinson's disease together, we hope to create a worldwide dialogue that will help expedite the discovery of a cure and best treatment practices for this devastating disease.

Inflammation in Parkinson’s Disease by Janna Jernigan, PhD The immune system is crucial for our survival, but we can appreciate that when it becomes dysregulated the immune system can be a potent driver of disease through inappropriate cytolytic targeting of non-infected host cells and the production of cytotoxic levels of inflammatory mediators. We can clearly perceive these phenomena in conditions such as autoimmune disorders, allergy, and septic shock; however, over the past few decades, we have come to understand that dysregulated immune responses are contributing to far more diseases than we had previously thought, including neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. The WPC is thrilled to introduce new WPC 2026 Parkinson Ambassador, Dianne Bramble from Canada. Dianne was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) in September 2013. Since then, she has become a tireless advocate for all things related to Parkinson’s. In 2014, she started participating in the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk raising at least $4000 each year. Dianne is a member of the PD Avengers, where she chairs the Research arm of the organization, and she is also a Provincial Representative for the Canadian Open Parkinson's Network. Following her diagnosis, Dianne’s passion for art and writing was reignited. her work can be found on Facebook at ”Paintings for Parkinson’s”. Additionally, Dianne has written two books called “Genes: The Story of the Accidental Superhero” and “Genes: The Continuing Adventures of the Accidental Superhero”. Dianne is also passionate about exercise, and boxing and enjoys running and riding horses. As if that isn’t enough, Dianne has started her own business as a personal trainer, health coach, and counselor for people with chronic conditions.
