About us

WorldStrides provides educational travel and experiences to more than 530,000 students a year. Founded in 1967 by a middle school social studies teacher from Chicago, the company has since grown to become a leader in experiential learning for students of all ages throughout their lifetime learning journey. In addition to domestic and international travel and study abroad programs, WorldStrides offerings include performing arts, sports, language immersion, career exploration, and service-learning. Each of these experiences helps students to see beyond the classroom and to see the world – and themselves – in new ways. Our global team is 1,500+ strong, united by a passion for what we do. We work with students, parents, and teachers, and behind the scenes too, to deliver experiences that transform lives. Let's get out there - together! • Trailblazer Bessie Coleman! ✈️ 🌎 💡 This Black History Month, we honor the incredible Bessie Coleman—the first African American woman to earn a pilot’s license. In the 1920s, getting a pilot's license as a Black woman in the United States was impossible; so Coleman moved to France to get her flying certification. On June 15, 1921, Coleman achieved her goal—making history as the first African American woman to earn a pilot's license! Her determination and courage inspire us to aim high and explore new horizons—both in the air and in life. 🛫 💙 Learn more about Coleman's legacy here! https://s.si.edu/3HShvON Photo source: National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution

  • In honor of #InternationalDayofEducation, we're proud to support the goal of education as "a human right, a public good and a public responsibility," - United Nations. Our innovative approach to elevating learning on tour has earned us national accreditation and helped to ignite growth for millions of students over more than 50 years. Using LEAP (Learning through Exploration and Active Participation)—our own unique learning philosophy rooted in more than 50 years of educational travel and experiential learning—we ensure that students are actively engaging with the sites they visit, absorbing their surroundings, and thinking deeply about the concepts that relate both to their destination and to their home communities. Building Meaningful Partnerships That Last has been my motto going into 2025, and this past week very much embodied that idea! The temperature was below freezing the entire time (often by a lot! 🥶), but what a fabulous and stimulating few days visiting three of our WorldStrides Higher Ed Embedded Offices. 🐎 I started the week at our oldest Embedded Office at the University of Kentucky, now entering its 13th year! Sarah Warren, our Director based on campus, is an emerging Thought Leader in our field who never fails to impress me. Thank you for setting up a wonderful day of meetings, and for letting me crash the Education Abroad Fair, where we sponsored a hot chocolate bar - handy on a very cold day. ☕️ I love Kentucky! 🤝 At Ohio University, I got to welcome our new Embedded Regional Director Ryan Rieder (already off to a great start!), have some wonderful conversations and even got to meet the impressive President, Lori Stewart Gonzales. 🏈 At The Ohio State University, we celebrated the Embedded Office sixth month anniversary with some fantastic conversations all across campus. Thank you to the amazing Mack Conlon, MBA! I always leave The Ohio State University Office of International Affairs stimulated with lots of new ideas for collaboration that change student lives - and sore from all the laughter. What a great team! ⏭️ It’s not even February, but I’m already feeling great about the road ahead in 2025. ‘Tis the Year of Sustainable Partnerships, coming soon to a campus near you! Onward!! #studyabroad #educationabroad #nafsa #ohiostate #kentucky #highered #partnership
