Over the last few months, I’ve had the privilege of arguing numerous dispositive motions in a variety of different class actions across the country. We won every single one. Why? Because we are a relatively new litigation boutique with no brand name and no internal referral network. So we MUST win if we want to continue getting hired. That's our mindset with every motion we file. It’s amazing how the mindset of caring deeply translates to results. That’s why I tell young lawyers that “giving a ****” is the most important attribute that determines whether you are successful in this field. You MUST buy in and you MUST care, really care, if you want to win over clients, courts, and the supervising lawyers who make decisions about your career.

With that, our Second Annual Firm Retreat is in the books! 🏝 🌞 🐠 We stepped away from the office for a few days to team build, soak up the sun, swim with the fish, and to get some well-deserved R&R. Thank you Isla Bella Beach Resort for hosting us and for making this such a wonderful experience! Many lawyers think you must await a Plaintiff's class certification motion to resolve the issue of class certification on the merits. Not so. We recently obtained an order denying class certification on our affirmative evidentiary motion to deny certification--before any substantive discovery. That's the second published decision we have obtained employing that tactic, and we have filed many other similar motions that didn't proceed to a final decision because the other side caved in response to the motion. A reminder to not let the "usual playbook" dictate what's in the best interests of your client.
