Creating a world where people live in harmony with nature. Together, anything is possible.

About us

Nature is our life-support system. That’s why WWF – an independent conservation organization active in nearly 100 countries – is tackling the deepening crisis of nature loss caused by human activities. Our ambition is to set nature on the path to recovery in the coming decade for the benefit of people and wildlife. Working with many others, we must protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable. ============ General information Thank you for joining the WWF LinkedIn community. WWF Greening Financial ReguIation Initiative Lead

LAUNCHED TODAY! New first-of-its kind report maps nature-related regulations for banks, finding rise in initiatives across key regions, in particular in the Global South   Our new study, “Navigating Nature-related Regulations for Banks: Mapping the Policy Landscape”, undertaken in collaboration with UNEP FI, finds the adoption of nature-related regulations for banks is accelerating globally, albeit with regional differences. With the Earth approaching dangerous tipping points that pose grave threats to humanity, we urgently need to transform our global finance system.   Strong policy signals and coordinated responses by governments, central banks, and financial institutions are crucial to help protect financial stability by reducing nature-related risks and supporting nature-positive activities. This report underlines the need for future actions to be part of an array of broad, coherent public and private sector policies and initiatives that address the crucial interplay between banks, the global financial system, and the real economy. The case studies provided in the report show how this can be done, and what types of regulatory actions are currently undertaken to halt biodiversity loss by 2030.   If you are looking for an up-to-date analysis on nature-related banks regulations best practices and developments around the world, this is the place to go:   https://lnkd.in/d3QthDqg   #UNEPFI #NGFS #GREENFINANCE #NATUREPOSITIVE #BANKS #CENTRALBANKS #FINANCIALREGULATORS #SUSREG   Romie Goedicke den HertogLaura Canas da CostaSem Houben Pina SaphiraSiti Kholifatul RizkiahAdam NgCarolin CarellaMaria Fernanda Contreras del ValleJochen KrimphoffChristine J. 🌍 As #CoP16 negotiations resume in Rome next month, the stakes for addressing the biodiversity crisis couldn’t be higher. New WWF-led research reveals the often-overlooked, yet critical, ‘invisible’ benefits wildlife provides to people and societies worldwide. From pollination to water purification, these natural services are irreplaceable—and at risk if we don’t act. Let’s ensure the Global Biodiversity Framework is backed by the resources and ambition needed to protect these vital contributions. Local change can lead to global impact, and Natalia Botero-Acosta is a perfect example. As the Director of Macuaticos, Natalia is making a profound impact on her community and beyond. Based in the Gulf of Tribugá on Colombia's Pacific coast, she’s working closely with the local community to study and protect humpback whales. Her conservation efforts have deeply engaged the community. A touching example: Neymar, a boy who was just 4-5 years old when he first got involved in the project is now an active field team member, helping launch drones to study whales from the sky. For the future of both people and the planet, #NaturesHeroes like Natalia are leading the way.

#BREAKING: 2024 is the hottest year on record, surpassing 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. While not yet breaching the Paris Agreement’s target, this is a critical warning that urgent action is needed. In 2025, we must accelerate the transition to renewable energy, restore ecosystems, and set more ambitious climate goals. The window to limit warming is closing, and people are already feeling the impact of inaction. It’s time for change — let’s protect our planet and its people.

A historic milestone is unfolding in the Ile-Balkhash region of Kazakhstan, where local communities are helping reintroduce tigers after 70 years of extinction. Two Amur tigers, Bodhana and Kuma, made their journey to a new home, marking the start of an ambitious conservation project. From adopting sustainable farming to preparing for eco-tourism, the communities are #NaturesHeroes. They are helping to rewild ecosystems, restore species like the Bukhara deer and Kulan, and plant forests. This initiative – led by Wereld Natuur Fonds (WWF-NL), the Kazakh government, and UNDP – is a testament to the power of partnerships and the critical role of communities in driving conservation success.

Through their incredible work, WWF-Malaysia’s Tiger Anti-Poaching and Sarawak Wildlife Conservation teams have done remarkable things for endangered species. They have achieved a 98% reduction in active snares and capturing footage of Malayan tiger cubs, collected over a million images through camera traps and conducted orangutan nest surveys in Sarawak. Their hard work has earned each team a Star Golden Hearts Award 2024 – recognising their extraordinary commitment to Malaysia’s wildlife. The future of our planet is shaped by incredible individuals and communities. Because they are #NaturesHeroes.

A groundbreaking IPBES Nexus Assessment reveals actionable solutions to intertwined environmental crises. WWF scientist and lead author on the report, Becky Chaplin-Kramer, says tackling these challenges together is our only path to sustainability: “Recent global conferences on climate change and biodiversity have underscored the urgent need for ambitious action to secure our planet's future. The report reveals the deep interconnections between biodiversity, water, food, health, and climate, demonstrating that tackling these challenges together is our only path to sustainability. The report shows how biodiversity loss and climate change have contributed to water and food insecurity, threatening advances in human health. These impacts disproportionately affect low–and middle–income countries, socioeconomically disadvantaged people in higher-income countries, and Indigenous Peoples. By synthesizing future scenarios and offering actionable, science-based solutions, this report sets a new benchmark for confronting intertwined global crises. Our goal is to empower governments, communities, and businesses to take coordinated and integrated approaches to address these growing risks, delivering just and sustainable outcomes for both people and the planet.” Read the summary here: https://lnkd.in/eH2JK_eQ
