We train caring adults to empower youth to thrive through evidence-based coaching.

About us

Who We Are We’re a community of social change agents who experienced our share of struggles as adolescents. We managed to overcome, learn to thrive, and establish lives we can be proud of. Now, we’re committed to reaching back and supporting the next generation of young people who’ve yet to see the light on the other side of their struggle. We make a difference through evidence-based coaching grounded in behavioral science. Mission, Purpose, and Goals Our mission is two-fold. First, to combat distress and overwhelm with resilience building and empowerment by increasing access to evidence-based coaching for youth. Second, to train caring adults and youth serving professionals to do the same by increasing access to rigorous, research-based coach education and credentialing at accessible rates for social servants. Our goal is to help fill a support gap for struggling young people, one coach at a time. Our vision is that every tween, teen, and emerging adult may have access to a qualified life coach when they need one.

  • New Year, new purpose! 🎇 Let 2025 be the year you reach back and empower the next generation to overcome and thrive! Our Certified Youth Health Coach training path prepares caring adults to offer mental health coaching, behavioral health coaching, health and wellness coaching, emotional wellness coaching, and/or recovery coaching for teens and emerging adults.  If you have tweens, teens, and/or emerging adults in your life, you are likely aware that adolescents are currently experiencing a mental health crisis. According to the CDC’s (2023) High School Youth Risk Behavior Survey of over 17,000 students, 🔴53% of females and 28% of males reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness during the past year 🔴39% of females and 19% of males reported experiencing poor mental health during the past 30 days 🔴27% of females and 14% of males reported seriously considering attempting suicide during the past year 🔴13% of females and 6% of males reported attempting suicide in the past year Mental health interventions that don't address physical and social needs are insufficient. They can be temporary bandages that don't address root causes. This is why our CYHC path includes a Lifestyle Medicine for Adolescents course to integrate the six pillars of lifestyle medicine for holistic health. Nutrition 💠 Consuming ultra-processed foods has been found to be associated with an increased risk of depression (Mazloomi et al., 2022) 💠90-95% of serotonin is produced in our gut and highly influenced by our intestinal microbiome (Selhub, 2022). Seratonin regulates mood, sleep, digestion, executive functions, etc. Exercise 💠Sedentary time has been found to be associated with mood disturbance (DeMello et al., 2018) 💠Physical exercise reduces anxiety, depression and improves mood (Mandolesi et al., 2018; Pearce, Garcia, & Abbas, 2022) 💠Exercise including, walking, yoga, jogging, and strength training have recently been found to be as effective at treating depression as psychotherapy and antidepressants (Noetel, et al. 2024) Sleep 💠Improving sleep quality reduces depression, anxiety, and stress with a dose-response relationship (Scott et al., 2021) Social Connection 💠Loneliness can predict and exacerbate social anxiety, depression, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and suicidal action (Hickin et al., 2021) Stress Management 💠Stress management interventions have been found to effectively reduce distress, anxiety, and depression (Amanvermezet al. 2023) 💠Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) effectively reduces anxiety and depression (Fisher, Li, & Malabu, 2023) Avoiding Risky Substances 💠High-potency cannabis use associated with higher likelihood of anxiety disorder (Hines et al. 2020) 💠Smoking tobacco is associated with higher mental distress (Lien, Bolstad, & Bramness, 2021) 💠Excessive alcohol use contributes to anxiety and depression (CDC, 2024) Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gANi5-6J

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I highly recommend the Youth Resiliency Coaching Certification offered by the Youth Coaching Institute. As a Pediatric Cardiologist in Canada, I enrolled in this program to better support the youth and adolescents in my practice, many of whom have underlying heart disease. Through this certification, I gained valuable insights on how to support and facilitate young people to navigate the challenges of puberty, education, sports, and maintaining social connections. This experience was truly transformative for me, as I learned the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental space for teenagers to express themselves and make their own choices. I am excited to integrate these learnings into my daily practice and empower teenagers and young adults to build resilience and strive towards their best selves, regardless of any underlying medical conditions they may have.” **Kathryn Armstrong, Google Review**
