  • Just announced: members of our 2025 Youth Advisory Groups! We are excited to welcome the young people joining a Youth Advisory Group next year! The 2025 Youth Advisory Groups are: ✅ Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Home Affairs ✅ Climate Change and Water Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water ✅ Creative Industries Youth Advisory Group working with the Office for the Arts ✅ First Nations Youth Advisory Group working with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations ✅ Prevention of Gender-Based Violence Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Social Services. Each group consists of up to 10 young people aged from 16 to 24. They come from almost every state and territory in Australia and each bring a unique perspective from their lived experience.   • Introducing the new Digital Youth Hub! We’re committed to making sure that young people are able to easily connect with government and access the information and support they need.   That’s why we’ve created the Digital Youth Hub!   The Hub is a place for young people to find information about:   ⭐ health and wellbeing ⭐ education and training ⭐ employment ⭐ life stuff ⭐ the environment   all in one easy to find place.   On the new Hub, we’ve also published a Youth Engagement Toolkit. The toolkit is a practical guide for the Australian Public Service to engage with young people.   Check it out at youth.gov.au!

  • ABC Heywire winners celebrate stories of life across regional, rural and remote Australia! With stories spanning from King Island to Alice Springs, our winners have shared tales of becoming a world-class musician in outback Queensland, fleeing war-torn Ukraine, surviving a rare childhood cancer, pursuing heptathlon Olympic dreams and raising awareness about climate issues.   • Young people of Australia! Your 2024 wrapped is here.   This year we heard from you about the issues most important to you. Plus, you told us how you want to engage with government decision making.   It was also a big year for us. Our Youth Steering Committee and Youth Advisory Groups were hard at work advising on government programs and policies.   We also launched Engage! Our strategy to include young people in the decisions we make.   Thank you to everyone who worked with us this year. Looking forward to an even bigger 2025!

  • Huge shout out to Daniel Bartholomaeus, the 2025 ACT Young Australian of the Year! Daniel is an artist who inspires and motivates others, especially in the neurodiverse community. Daniel is a mentor with The With Friends Initiative, a social group for neurodivergent young people, and has worked with Daydream Machine, the National Gallery of Australia and the United Nations.   • Dr Katrina Wruck has been announced as the 2025 Queensland Young Australian of the Year! Katrina is a proud Mabuigilaig and Goemulgal woman who has long advocated for First Nations knowledge. She has set up a profit-for-purpose business, Nguki Kula Green Labs, which is poised to transform the consumer goods sector by harnessing the power of green chemistry.
