The Akan are a group of ethnic communities from West Africa, particularly southern and central Ghana as well as southeastern Ivory Coast. They are organized into several kingdoms and are connected by their shared language, Twi, which includes many dialects. The influence of Akan culture, including the Adinkra tradition, reached beyond Africa, leaving its mark on regions such as South America, the Caribbean, and North America. • Love and chocolate—a timeless bond captured through the lens of Sacitey Tesa for our first campaign. Two figures, both wearing oversized sculptural hats, move toward each other in a moment of tender exchange. Their hats serve as physical manifestations of the vast amount of thoughts and emotions they carry for each other —like thought bubbles made tangible. On each hat are traditional Adinkra symbols representing love and connection, specifically the Odo Nnyew Fie Kwan motif, which represents the power of love and the idea that love always finds a way home. The hats create a sense of ceremony and significance around what might otherwise be a simple gesture. At the heart of the image, the two subjects exchange a piece of ethically sourced tree-to-bar chocolate from Zacao. This exchange becomes more than sharing chocolate— it's an offering, a bridge, an act of love. This love also reflects the love between producers and consumers of chocolate. The composition speaks to how something as simple as sharing chocolate can become an act of love when done with intention and an understanding of its journey from tree to bar.

  • Together with fairafric, We Are Changing The Chocolate Industry. 70% of the world's cocoa is grown in West Africa, but less than 1% of the chocolate is made there. Through manufacturing from tree-to-bar in Ghana, fairafric & Zacao help to create high-skilled jobs, build local economic prosperity, and empower the communities that grow our cocoa, fostering sustainable growth and opportunity.

  • Your cocoa is grown sustainably and free from herbicides & synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Harvest: Family farmers in Ghana carefully hand-select organic cocoa pods. 🌱Pod Opening: Farmers skillfully crack open the pods using traditional wooden sticks. 🌱Fermentation: For 7 days, beans develop rich flavors under palm trees, nestled in plantain leaves. 🌱Sun-Drying: Nature's touch - beans bask under the African sun to develop their full aroma. 🌱Quality Check: Each bean undergoes meticulous quality checks, we only use the very finest quality of organic cocoa beans. 🌱Roasting: Our solar-powered factory roasts beans to perfection, unlocking divine taste notes. We craft our chocolate FRESH as soon as the beans are ready right where the cocoa is grown. No storage for months or years. And you can taste it! 🌱Grinding: Roasted beans transform into smooth cocoa mass - the heart of your chocolate. 🌱Conching: We refine the chocolate to silky perfection. 🌱Secret Smoothing: Our special method for extra smoothness (it's a secret!) 🌱Molding: We shape our fresh, aromatic chocolate into bars. 🌱Packaging: Wrapped in a sustainable hug, ready for you to enjoy. We are excited for you to taste the difference! From tree to bar, we nurture local communities and craft chocolate that's better for people, our planet and for you. #Zacao #Chocolate #Fair #Sustainable
