Z&S Law is so happy to help our client, Jewel-Craft, Inc., help others!   Since 1999, Jewelers for Children has donated more than $62 million to help children who are the victim of catastrophic illness or life-threatening abuse and neglect. They have reached this goal working with their charity partners. Now, it’s time for Jewel-Craft, Inc.'s annual Jewelers for Children Fundraiser, and Z&S Law is so happy to be one of those partners! Back in July of 2024, Z&S Law (Ziegler & Schneider, P.S.C.) proudly posted a News Blog on our website about the successful prosecution of the personal injury matter concerning Alex Chronis against the Econolodge in Erlanger by our attorney, Jeff Blankenship. Ziegler & Schneider, P.S.C., would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate newly appointed Hon. Judge Douglas L. Lutz, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Judge Douglas L. Lutz was appointed United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky on April 15, 2024. He graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1991, where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review. Judge Lutz also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1987. Judge Lutz is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy (Class Thirty-Two 2021). Judge Lutz served on the Executive Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute as its Vice President of Education from 2017 to 2021. Prior to his appointment, Judge Lutz’s legal practice included all aspects of bankruptcy, reorganizations, and insolvency. He represented debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, individual creditors, boards of directors, and purchasers in court proceedings and in out-of-court proceedings. He also acted as a SIPC Trustee, a mediator, and general outside counsel to several privately held corporations. Congratulations, Judge Lutz, from all of us here at Z&S Law!

Today, Valentine's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. The exchange of cards, flowers, and gifts, as well as expressions of love and affection, is a common practice on February 14th each year. The celebration has evolved over centuries, blending ancient traditions with more modern customs.

Groundhog Day is a traditional North American holiday observed on February 2nd each year.  The tradition goes like this: If Phil sees his shadow when he emerges from his burrow, it is believed that there will be six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, it is thought that spring will come early. This weather prediction is based on folklore and has no scientific basis, but it has become a lighthearted and widely followed tradition in the United States and Canada.
