About us
ZIM Consulting (ZIM) is a woman-owned, Denver-based, full-service consulting firm that specializes in grant management, strategic planning, and fundraising implementation services for nonprofit organizations. ZIM was founded in 2006 to address a key gap in the non-profit industry. There were several consultants who focused on creating plans. There were also several individual contractors who provided short-term development services. However, there was a lack of highly-skilled individuals who served as both consultants and contractors, creating plans and then working closely with organizations to implement them.

With rising direct mail costs, many nonprofits are exploring fresh ways to connect with donors this holiday season. Audience segmentation is essential—targeting specific groups ensures each message resonates, maximizing every dollar spent. If you’re rethinking traditional mailers, try these impactful alternatives: 💌 Digital Mailers & E-Newsletters: Send instant, personalized updates to supporters. 📱 Social Media Campaigns: Share heartfelt stories where your donors are already connected. 🎥 Video Messages: Bring your impact to life with short, engaging videos. 🌐 Hybrid Approach: Combine limited direct mail with digital strategies to broaden your reach. In observance of Thanksgiving and the National Day of Mourning, ZIM Consulting will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. During this time, we will reflect on our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) principles, particularly our commitment to addressing the root causes of systemic inequality. We encourage everyone to learn more about the ongoing and historical struggles of Native, Indigenous, and First Nations communities against the forces of occupation, colonialism, and imperialism. Here are a few resources to explore: 📰 Articles - Understand Thanksgiving from an Indigenous perspective (buff.ly/3CHE5K3) - Explore Colorado’s history with boarding schools (buff.ly/4eJN8au) - Learn the Wampanoag side of the first Thanksgiving (buff.ly/4eLhxoW) 📚 Book Recommendations: - An Indigenous People’s History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz - The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee by David Treuer - Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer 🤝 Organizations to Know: - Denver Indian Center - Native American Rights Fund - NDN Collective We hope you have a restful holiday and take the time to engage with these important topics.

Did you know that 41% of spontaneous donations come from an emotional connection or compelling information? 💡 Younger and diverse donors, especially Gen Z, are driving real-time generosity. Authentic, emotional stories—and sharing them where these audiences are (like social media!)—can unlock spontaneous support for your cause. Is your nonprofit ready to inspire real-time giving? We’re incredibly grateful to have Colorado Inclusive Economy (CIE) as part of the ZIM Consulting, Inc. community. Since its inception, CIE has made an enormous impact on DEI and allyship. We were honored to have Stephanie Knight, CEO of CIE, join us at our 2024 staff retreat last week, where her insightful presentation sparked important conversations on navigating DEI in challenging times. Thank you, Stephanie, for your leadership and for inspiring us all to continue fostering inclusive communities. We look forward to our continued partnership! #InclusiveLeadership #DEIImpact #BuildingStrongerCommunities
Our CEO Stephanie Knight was honored to be a part of the ZIM Consulting, Inc. annual staff retreat and provided a presentation on DEI in times of challenge and change. The discussion included ways to continue to engage clients, the community and how underrepresented groups can seek support and allyship within their like-minded tribes. We are so very touched by the sentiments they shared: “Stephanie, you were absolutely the highlight of our retreat!! We loved your presentation. I have to tell you – you are one of the best presenters I’ve ever seen. You are able to convey a lot of information (with most of it difficult to hear) in a relaxed and empathetic way. We had a great conversation about how we’re going to deal with the new political realities around DEI. We’re lucky to have a leader like you in our community. I truly cherish you and our friendship.“ Marty Zimmerman Shira Zimmerman #2024ZimConsultingstaffretreat #NavigatingDEI #Allyshipintribes #Safespacesincommunity
