The buying process for event tech is uniquely challenging compared to other industries. Why? Because it involves a diverse range of decision-makers, each with distinct priorities: The Head of Events prioritizes seamless operations and flawless execution. Marketing Operations focuses on data integration and how the platform supports broader marketing efforts. Sales Teams look for proof of ROI, lead generation, and revenue impact. The C-Suite cares about strategic alignment, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Unlike other sales cycles that target a single department, event tech requires addressing multiple concerns across different functions. Each stakeholder has a unique perspective on the purchase, making it a complex, multi-layered decision. Successfully navigating this process requires deep industry knowledge, the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and the skill to demonstrate how event tech can meet specific organizational goals—whether it's operational efficiency, data integration, or showcasing ROI. To thrive in this space, sales teams need to go beyond product pitches. They need to act as advisors, building trust and offering strategic insights that speak to the unique needs of each decision-maker. It's about delivering clarity and confidence across the board, ensuring every stakeholder understands the full value of the solution. It might be one of the toughest sales in B2B SaaS, but with the right approach, it’s also one of the most rewarding. #saas #sales #eventmarketing

This is a chart of inbound demos booked for Zuddl (event management software), who I've been working with since October of last year. How did we do this? 1. We used our ICP to help us build the product. We contracted with event professionals like Stephanie Christensen and Ashley Mauras, MBA who told us EXACTLY what was wrong with current solutions and we built around that. And we did it very fast. 2. We created partnerships with companies putting on events for marketers. We gave away the product or in some cases even paid for sponsored partnerships. Marketers seeing and feeling the product in a natural environment helped them build trust in us. 3. Focused on product marketing. We worked with folks like 👾 Alex Virden to help us nail our positioning and messaging. 4. We did incredibly smart targeting. We built AI bots to scour the interwebs for companies putting on events and grabbed things like the event date, name and even the technology they were using and built up ICP tiers based on this. 5. We experimented A LOT. Across several channels. We now have paid ads working really well. We launched a unique gifting campaign using Sendoso that's helping us get into our best-fit accounts. We're doing automated, personalized outbound. We also tried things that didn't work like a small event in SF (we wanted 40 people, got like 4...). We failed several times. 6. We have a great team. The founders Bharath Varma and Vedha Sayyaparaju are some of my favorite people and their personalities and styles have cascaded down through the company. They are compassionate and understanding. Willing to make tough decisions. And they believe in marketing! It's amazing what you can do in a year! I'm incredibly bullish on this company and the product - it just keeps evolving. If you're in the event world, definitely check them out.
