J&J heads to trial over opioids
The first state trial against a pharmaceutical opioid maker is underway in Oklahoma, with Johnson & Johnson accused of fueling the opioid epidemic. In a multi-billion dollar lawsuit, prosecutors claim the drugs giant carried out deceptive marketing campaigns for painkillers and underplayed the risks of addiction. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries on Sunday reached an $85 million settlement with Oklahoma, while Purdue Pharma settled in March. More than 40 other states have filed lawsuits relating to the epidemic.

It’s the entire supply chain - from supplier to pharma to reps to doctors to patients. When this breaks down in one area, it breaks down in all. It’s not the fault of one party or another - it’s a supply chain breakdown. There need to be additional checks & balances added into this system. We can all make it personal (I know I hold strong opinions on this) but let’s keep this at the higher-level to get more objective versus subjective feedback.
