***** Then read this ***** Many of you have asked me about how to start a career in cybersecurity. And while I'm confident in my ability to teach about packets, risk management, and buffer overflows, I do not have experience starting cyber as a civilian, or without military training getting me started. But, I do have some resources, and a plethora of experienced contacts here that I hope will comment with useful information. If you have nothing, no background, no knowledge, then you have to try to gain those things. I'll list a bunch of training recommendations in comments. That will get you started with knowledge. You need to gain skills and experience. entry-level IT usually starts at the IT Helpdesk, and for good reason. It gets you dealing with software, hardware, the network, and maybe webapps. But where do you want to go? What are the actual roles in this field? There is a tool for that. I'll link in the comments. #freecyberresource
