Why have ESS systems become so popular only now? Well, the main reason is the mass production of lithium batteries for EV and the dramatic reduction of their cost (10x reduction in 10 years). So, let's thank Tesla, who pushed this industry and made this transition possible. Just FYI, the picture shows a price change for LFP batteries over the years. #lfp #lfpbattery #price

Is this the actual game changer? CATL has been making significant strides with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries: 1. Higher Energy Density: CATL's solid-state batteries are expected to have an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, nearly double that of current lithium-ion batteries. 2. Faster Charging: These batteries can potentially offer 10-minute charging for a range of up to 600 km. 3. Improved Safety: Solid-state batteries eliminate the liquid electrolyte, reducing the risk of fires and increasing overall safety. 4. Sustainability: With higher efficiency and longer life cycles, these batteries contribute to the sustainability goals of both Tesla and the broader EV industry. Source. Copilot AI 26/10/2024

3 Minutes Tesla's Nevada Gigafactory's total annual output is equal to 3 minutes of average US electricity consumption. If we look globally at total lithium-ion battery production globally vs. average global electricity consumption, it is just under 2 minutes of storage. We have a long way to go, especially if we are going to double or triple average consumption.

Do the incumbent OEM´s have tomatoes in their eyes to not to see it? There is an enormous opportunity when standardizing the Batteries to be swapable and interchageable among different cars. Specially comglomerates like Stellantis and the VW Group could benefit from such „Battery as a Service“ strategy and grow their business well beyond of just selling cars….does anyone want to comment? What would be the influenece to the depretiation and acceptance of BEV? I open the thread!
The cost of replacing an EV battery can hit you harder than realizing you forgot to plug in your Mach E overnight. The price tag? Up to a whopping $25,000, depending on your ride. Curious why? It's all in the mix – metals like nickel, cobalt, manganese, and even the type of lithium make a difference. When comparing cars like the Tesla Model S to the RAM 1500 REV, battery costs are as varied as our Netflix choices. And with the EV market evolving faster than the latest social media trends, LFP batteries are gaining traction for being easier on the pocket. The question now is: are we ready to shift gears towards more affordable materials, or is the road ahead still a bit bumpy? #EVBattery #voltage #Affinitiv #EVServiceTrends #FutureOfDriving #TechTalk

Sticker shock isn't just for showroom tags anymore—it's lurking in the service bay, especially when it's time for a new EV battery. A replacement can drain your wallet faster than your car drains its battery on a cold day, with costs as high as $25,000. It's more than just a simple swap; it’s a complex collection of metals—think nickel, cobalt, manganese, plus the lithium variety—that's what is driving the price. The EV world is as diverse as our entertainment options—compare the battery costs of a Tesla Model S with those for a RAM 1500 REV, and you'll see what I mean.. However, LFP batteries are starting to make waves, promising an end to bill shock with their budget-friendly pricing. So, what's next for us? Let's keep the conversation charged. #EVBattery #voltage #Affinitiv #EVServiceTrends #FutureOfDriving #TechTalk
