Make versus Buy When designing manufacturing footprint strategy, one aspect that could act as a starting point is to consider the supplier capabilities. I have used the model below to illustrate, assess and map all aspects of the product from finished goods down to raw materials. The suppliers often have the expertise and the know-how and can be the secret weapon to a more scalable and efficient supply chain.

Over the past decade, manufacturing has undergone a pretty remarkable transformation. This new era encourages constant change and is ok with mistakes as long as they are detected early and the lessons learned are adapted and become a mainstay. Where production, engineering, and supply chain work closely and iteratively and are not walled up as separate departments. Our customers are at the forefront of this evolution, attacking seemingly impossible problems and making them a reality. At Manufacturo, we've taken inspiration from our customers to drive innovation and move the needle in meaningful ways. Three years ago, as we embarked on the next phase of Manufacturo, building an MRP solution wasn't on our radar—it was traditionally seen as the ERP's domain. Yet here we are, developing a unique solution to tackle an age-old problem while giving planners and schedulers in the high-mix, high-change aerospace sector the controls they desperately need. Thanks to Lawrence Lujan's vision and guidance. From the need for a "smooth, not clunky" MRP experience and a "design like you manufacture" mantra. You moved us in a smart direction and got this phase, and hopefully many more, out the door. Throughout this three-year journey, we've realized that our customers are more than clients—they're partners. Their challenges, pains, and risks have become the primary drivers of our roadmap and continue to do so. Solving these issues is not just our job; it's our mission. Where the harder the problem, the more enjoyable the success. To my friends with whom I have had the pleasure of tackling these problems in the past, I treasure these moments still to this day. If any of you are bored or in early retirement and want to get creative and solve problems like this, please reach out. Nothing is more valuable than experience that is desperate for change, and I know many of you have this in you. Let's tackle the problems that the traditional has given up on and have a good time doing it.
🚀 Launch Day has arrived for Manufacturo. No, we’re not literally on the launch pad, although we could be with the level of excitement buzzing around our HQ to announce the release of our brand-new Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) application. “Manufacturo’s new MRP was meticulously designed with our customers’ needs and requirements top of mind. The close, collaborative relationships that we’ve developed with our user community provides us with invaluable insight into the MRP’s functionality that industry-leading manufacturers need to be successful,” said Lawrence Lujan, Manufacturo. “We listened. And began a relentless pursuit to build the best MRP on the market. Today is the result of tireless R&D work by industry veterans with decades of advanced product experience in complex manufacturing.” This new smart planning tool ensures the right materials are available in the right quantities for allocation at the right time to meet production demands. And streamlined workflows bridge the gap between design, demand generation, supply allocation, and reporting steps. "It's so easy scouting and matching suitable factories to manufacturing projects" 😵💫 That's what the inexperienced think, when in fact, it's tedious, time-consuming and requires extremely high attention to detail. Without systems, processes and relationships, many mistakes occur. #honestfulphilment #productdevelopment #chinasourcing #chinaproductsourcing
