Quick soccer quiz: Where do most players aim their penalty kicks? ⚽ If you said “left or right,” you’re spot on! 98% of kicks go to the sides. But here’s the kicker (yes, pun intended): Statistically, shooting straight down the middle is your best bet to score. So why don’t more players do it? Simple: It would be embarrassing if the goalie didn’t move and easily caught it. This insight comes from the book “6 Simple Rules” by Peter Tollman and Yves Morieux. It brilliantly illustrates a crucial leadership principle: All behaviors are rational from the individual’s perspective. As leaders, our job isn’t to judge what we might find to be an irrational choice. Instead, we need to understand the underlying rationale and create an environment where the ‘rational’ choice aligns with our organizational goals. What behaviors in your organization seemed irrational at first glance? How might they actually make perfect sense from another angle? #LeadershipInsights #OrganizationalBehavior #6SimpleRules #BusinessStrategy

I was having a conversation with someone today about baseball, specifically about how the bullpen is so important and used this quote: "Just shows you really need a good rotation to have an effective bullpen." ⚾️ In baseball, a strong starting rotation sets the tone for the game, allowing the bullpen to shine when it's their turn. The same goes for leadership in any team setting. As leaders, we must provide a solid foundation, setting clear goals and empowering our team members. This allows each individual to step up and perform at their best when it’s their time to shine. Whether in the office or on the field, success comes from a well-rounded, supportive environment. Let's remember to build our teams with a strong "rotation" of skills and support, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed. #Leadership #Teamwork #Inspiration #BaseballMetaphor #SuccessMindset

Leadership Tip of the Week: Invest in building team relationships by spending time together on non-work activities on the clock. Take your team on a long lunch, go to an afternoon baseball game, play a board game. The possibilities are endless. The ROI is valuable. #leadership #modernleadership

Have you ever watched the best players when they are off the ball? 🤔 I used to love watching clips not for the where the ball was, but watching what was happening all around. What you see from the best is that they are never standing still. The best know that standing still in one space is giving an advantage to the defense, becoming easily marked. They are taught to get in and get out. We have to move and make ourselves available, things change and we have to change with it, creating space at times that didn’t exist before but is now where you need to be in case the ball is played that direction. That is being a good team player, anticipation and with your actions building trust in your team members, so that when the time comes, you will be in the space that the teams needs. As a leader, are you watching your players "off-ball" movement??? As a player, are you engaged in the match or growing roots??? #businessathlete #leadership #management #highperformance

Who's going to win the cup? I always use the analogy of hockey teams to business teams. Here are some key takeaways to be successful on the ice or in the office: Teamwork - no one or two person(s) can win a cup on their own, you need all 4 lines to play their part and contribute in the wins. No one or two person(s) achieve success alone in a team environment. Everyone on the team needs to play an integral part to meet their goals and keep the company successful. Being a part of the vision to win. Leadership - you need your leaders to step up and lead by example and motivate the team during the tough times and losses in order to win the cup. You also need the leaders in your business to walk the talk and lead by example and motivate their teams during tough times. Be present! Resilience - stepping up for your teammates after losing several key players due to injuries and being able to fill the gaps during their absence in a playoff run. The same can be applied in the business world, sometimes you need to step up for your teammates as they might be going through a rough times. We shouldn't just adhere to what's on our job doc and not try to help our peers out. We are one! What would you add? #leadership #teamwork #resiliency #winning

One of the most exciting things about elite sports is how athletes and teams use their strengths to outperform and often blow away the competition. 🏅Take Simone Biles at the Paris 2024 Games—her explosive power, precision, and mental toughness wowed everyone. 🎾Or Roger Federer, whose adaptability, footwork, and finesse made him excel across all surfaces. 📈 These examples remind us that focusing on strengths leads to peak performance. We've seen the same in business—when leaders focus on their strengths, it boosts engagement and improves results. But more than 70% of people don't know their strengths. As leaders, it's our responsibility to help others identify and build on theirs, unlocking their unique potential. Here are some key questions you can use to explore strengths: 🧠 What activities make you feel energized and confident? 💪 How can you use your strengths to have an even greater impact? 🧠 What strengths do you have that could benefit the team? #Leadership #TeamDevelopment #StrengthsBasedApproach
