IBM Power Virtual server and financial services infrastructure 💰 GlassHouse Systems, an IBM Platinum Partner specializing in #IBMCloud, partnered with IBM to deliver a major transformation of a North American bank's IT environment. This project involved moving from a completely on-premises environment to a comprehensive cloud-based solution – IBM #PowerVirtualServer. These key challenges were addressed: - Latency Requirements: Managing the strict latency demands of the digital banking application posed a significant hurdle. - Resource Constraints: The IT teams were stretched thin, juggling multiple projects and maintaining complex systems, which limited their capacity to execute initiatives effectively and efficiently. - Documentation Gap: The CIO required a comprehensive document outlining the proposed architectural changes to secure funding and approval. In addition to maintaining customer trust, financial enterprises must maintain regulator trust as well. Regulations around the world, such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (#DORA), continue to grow. DORA is a European Union regulation that aims to establish technical standards that financial entities and their critical third-party technology service providers must implement in their ICT systems by 17 January 2025. DORA requires financial institutions to define the business recovery process, service levels and recovery times that are acceptable for their business across processes, including payments. Traditionally, this has caused covered institutions to evaluate their cybersecurity protection measures. "The artificial intelligence market is like an iceberg." -- to hear  IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna tell it -- writes Wade Tyler Millward on The Channel Company. For now, most vendors and users are attracted by the use cases above the surface—using text generators to write emails and image generators to make art, for example. But it’s the enterprise AI market below the surface that IBM wants to serve with its partners, Krishna told CRN in a recent interview. And Krishna’s mandate that [ IBM ] reach 50 percent of its revenue from the channel over the next two to three years is key to reaching that hidden treasure. “This is a massive market,” said Krishna. “When I look at all the estimates … the numbers are so big that it is hard for most people to comprehend them. … That tells you that there is a lot of opportunity for a large number of us.” Krishna’s mandate for IBM to work more closely with partners has implications for IBM’s product plans. “Any new product has to be channel-friendly,” Krishna said. “I can’t think of one product I would want to build or bring to market unless we could also give it to the channel.
