Today is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, which is a critical opportunity to learn more and share about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment. It’s also a great time to address HIV stigma and center voices with lived experience on sexual and reproductive health for gay men. Use this interactive training tool from the OPA-funded Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health to practice tailoring sexual and reproductive health services to males in Title X settings. A recent study reveals that obesity, poor mental health, and high blood pressure are key factors impacting the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of adults with multimorbidity in #rural West Virginia. These findings highlight the need for community-based interventions that address social and emotional health, especially for those managing multiple chronic conditions. By focusing on mental well-being and self-care, we can help individuals with diabetes and other chronic illnesses improve their adherence to treatment and coping strategies. #DYK Together TakeMeHome, the largest HIV self-testing program in the United States to date, surpassed 444,000 tests ordered in its first year? Additional Together TakeMeHome highlights include: ➡️ 26% of those who provided information on prior testing history, had not previously tested for HIV. Another quarter (27%) had not tested within the last year. ➡️ 72% of those who provided information on sex at birth, gender identity and race, were from communities disproportionately impacted by HIV - gay and bisexual men, cisgender Black women, and transgender women. ➡️ 65% of people who provided information on their race or ethnicity were from racial and ethnic minority populations—31% Hispanic, 24% Black, and 10% who selected “other.” ➡️ 9 of the top 10 U.S. jurisdictions with most orders per capita were in the U.S. South, a region with higher rates of people living with HIV. ➡️ 50% of orders from within geographic areas prioritized by the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S.initiative. ➡️ Nearly 70% of orders came through dating apps. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and community health centers (CHCs) play a vital role in the prevention, education, and management of this chronic disease, particularly for our patients in underserved areas. According to data from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), CHCs serve millions of patients at risk for diabetes. In fact, nearly 30% of health center patients have diabetes or prediabetes. Fast Facts about Diabetes: ✅ 422 million people worldwide live with diabetes—about one in every 11 individuals. ✅ In the U.S., over 37 million people have diabetes, yet one in five are unaware of their condition. ✅ A staggering 96 million adults in the U.S. have prediabetes—over a third of the adult population. ✅ Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S., with diagnoses more than doubling in the last 20 years. ✅ Approximately 90 to 95% of all diagnosed cases are Type 2 diabetes. A new report from The Commonwealth Fund highlights alarming issues in women's health, especially in states with the highest maternal mortality rates like Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
