Despite brokers reporting stable premiums, employees face rising healthcare costs through increased deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. Texas employers pay hospitals up to 315% of Medicare's pay for the same procedures. This significant price disparity directly contributes to higher out-of-pocket expenses and in most cases higher health insurance premiums for "quality health insurance." Most brokers also have the same old tactics where they create urgency for employers to renew their plan 2-3 months early for reasons you can only assume based on what I just shared. Brokers also often deliver low premiums each year, creating the illusion of stable costs. However, the reality is that the quality of healthcare is decreasing as employees shoulder more of the financial burden. Massive confusion and ambiguity around the "Final Ruling" has caused our industry to take a closer look at the way we do business. While some changes have been positive, the relationship between distribution partners (TPMO’s), and carrier partners (MAO’s) has caused distress. However, there is hope! A recent article outlines that these regulations are outside the scope and not the intentions of CMS. Let's commit to our carrier partners and work together to improve distribution and marketing. It's time for us to come together and get excited about the rest of the year and AEP planning. Here's to moving onward and upward! This year will be our best yet with our partners! Jb

On July 3, 2024, Judge Reed O’Connor issued a crucial ruling impacting Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Part D plans. Here’s what you need to know: ✅ Fixed Fee Rule Blocked: The court halted the CMS rule capping administrative payments to agents and brokers at $100. This means we can continue receiving necessary payments to cover costs like marketing, technology, and training. ✅ Contract-Terms Restriction Halted: The vague restrictions that could limit our ability to recommend the best plans for our clients are on hold. ❗ Data-Sharing Rule Stands: We must still comply with regulations regarding the sharing of personal beneficiary data, aligning with HIPAA. What This Means: Financial Stability: Continue receiving payments without the $100 cap. Business as Usual: No immediate need to change contracts or practices. Professional Flexibility: Recommend the best plans without restrictive terms. This is a temporary stay, but it’s a big win for now. Stay informed and prepared for any future changes.
