The Manager of Applications Engineering is responsible for oversight of the Application engineering group. Applications Engineering generates new equipment proposals that Comply with our customer’s specifications. In addition, the Applications Engineering supports the outside sales team with technical consultation and equipment sizing to develop large custom industrial equipment projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the activities of APC application engineers in the Kennesaw offices including annual performance evaluations, performance management and other tasks as needed. Responsibility for establishing, planning and executing the training for all APC application engineers.
  • Oversees the proposal generation and estimating standards in the APC division to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Works with management to determine appropriate Application Engineer department staffing levels.
  • Reviews proposal requests received from Sales; works with applicable Product Manager, Director of APC Sales, and VP of APC Sales to evaluate inquiries to make bid/no bid decisions and identify appropriate product offerings. Assigns applications engineer to the opportunity.
  • Oversees the preparation of technical proposals for all APC products; reviews equipment sizing and selection, proposal documentation requirements, and drawing requirements with the assigned application engineer.
  • Manages the overall proposal work load, sets priorities for applications engineers, and ensures all tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Performs final review of all APC technical proposals prior to Management review for accuracy, content, and compliance with the customer specifications. Identifies any areas of technical risk or outside our design standards.
  • Maintains and updates APC equipment sizing and cost estimating tools, databases, and field performance data to aid in the preparation of proposals.
  • Provides technical support to APC sales managers, which includes but is not limited to teleconferences, customer visits and attendance of sales staff meetings.

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced technical aptitude and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate via all mediums, internally and externally
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects at once and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong desire to work in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management and organization skills
  • Ability to apply engineering and business principles and practices in day-to-day decision making
  • Self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and grow in a professional environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the design and cost estimating of heavy industrial equipment.
  • Prior experience with sizing and design of Air Pollution Control equipment strongly preferred
