Assistant Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join our finance team and contribute to our firm's financial operations and strategic goals.

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in managing day-to-day accounting activities, and supporting key financial decisions. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is ideal for a self-starter with a comprehensive understanding of accounting practices within the professional services or executive search sector. This position provides an opportunity for growth and the potential to take on additional responsibilities as our firm scales.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Ledger Management: Oversee the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and ensure proper documentation and recording of all financial transactions.
• Month-End and Year-End Close: Coordinate and perform the month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support management’s strategic decision-making.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for ongoing operations and upcoming expenses.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Supervise AP/AR activities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely payments and collections.
• Payroll Processing: Collaborate with HR and payroll providers to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting.
• Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support business needs.
• Special Projects: Support CFO in various ad-hoc analyses, financial projects, and process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5-12 years of accounting experience, ideally within a professional services or executive search environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus but not required.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar). Experience with financial modeling or data analysis is an asset.
• Analytical Ability: Demonstrated experience with financial statement analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and senior leadership.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
