Associate Director/Director, Corporate Development

The Company
enGene (NASDAQ: ENGN) is a late-stage biotechnology company mainstreaming genetic medicines through the delivery of therapeutics to mucosal tissues and other organs, whose lead program EG-70 is being evaluated in an ongoing pivotal study for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with carcinoma in situ (Cis) who are unresponsive or naïve to treatment with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Role

The Associate Director/Director of Corporate Development will be a key member of enGene’s corporate strategy team and will report to the President and Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, hands-on individual with corporate strategy and business development experience in biotech and/or pharma. The Associate Director/Director will wear many hats and should have the capacity to drive numerous complex and cross-functional projects forward simultaneously. This role requires a blend of financial acumen, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills to excel.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with enGene’s leadership team to help define areas of interest and, when appropriate, to develop and execute partnerships for those areas
  • In-depth analysis of biotech companies' assets, including drug pipelines, technology platforms, IP etc. Evaluate these assets for their scientific validity and market potential
  • Assess investment opportunities by analyzing market trends, financial reports, and pipeline market potential of biotech companies. Support the complex financial models to evaluate potential acquisition targets and/or in-licensing opportunities
  • Act as strategic thought partner to C-suite and BOD in the creation, refinement, articulation, and execution of enGene’s business and science strategy.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of competitive landscape and partner in development of internal and external communications
  • Lead scientific and strategic assessments and cross-functional due diligence reviews
  • Drive decision-making through the deal process, and make presentations and recommendations to senior management
  • Support portfolio prioritization efforts and align/plan resources appropriately.
  • Source new opportunities that are consistent with the company’s scientific and business objectives



Required Experience And Qualifications

  • Scientific undergraduate training with experience in biopharma industry, life science management with 5 plus years of experience in consulting and/or comparable experience required; Graduate degree (PhD, MD, MBA) strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the drug discovery, development, and commercialization process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with prior experience presenting to C-suite and BOD-evel professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with strong grasp of analytic tools including asset valuations and a track record of developing high impact insights.
  • Ability to drive the business forward through application of a deep understanding of the science and broad knowledge of drug development.
  • Collaborative attitude with strong relationship management skills, adept at working with many different disciplines both inside and outside of the company.
  • Passion about delivering transformative therapies to patients required
  • Hands-on, roll-up-the sleeves, high energy individual with a positive “nothing is impossible” attitude.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication, interpersonal, influence and negotiation skills
  • Previous small company/startup operational experience helpful
