Position Summary

The Athletic Director at Rock Academy plays a pivotal role in providing vision, leadership, and direction for all aspects of the school's Athletics program. This position is essential to advancing the mission of Rock Academy by overseeing athletic programs, coaches, staff, facilities, and equipment. The ideal candidate will exemplify strong Christian character and professionalism, fostering a culture of sportsmanship, respect, and excellence at all levels of participation.

Essential Functions

  • VISION AND LEADERSHIP: Develop and communicate a clear vision for the Athletics program, ensuring alignment with the mission and values of Rock Academy.
  • PROGRAM OVERSIGHT: Supervise all aspects of the Athletics program, including programs, coaches, facilities, and equipment, to ensure a high standard of operation and performance.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT: Maintain an effective organizational structure within the Athletics department, including job qualifications, coach recruitment, and annual performance evaluations.
  • COMPLIANCE AND REGULATION: Ensure compliance with CIF policies, state, and federal laws governing athletics, maintaining high standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • STRATEGIC PLANNING: Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans for K-12 Athletics, fostering growth and development in alignment with educational goals.
  • COACH LEADERSHIP: Recruit, train, and supervise coaches who uphold the mission of Rock Academy, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and effectiveness.
  • GAME REPORTING AND OVERSIGHT: Coordinate with coaching staff to ensure accurate reporting of scores and results for all scheduled athletic events, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • SPIRITUAL INTEGRATION: Ensure all athletic programs include a strong Christian focus and mentoring component, promoting character development and spiritual growth among student athletes.
  • FACILITIES AND BUDGET MANAGEMENT: Oversee the maintenance, security, and scheduling of athletic facilities and equipment. Develop and manage the Athletics Department budget effectively.
  • SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE: Establish and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of student athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • ACADEMIC SUPPORT: Collaborate with the Principal to monitor student athlete eligibility and provide academic support as needed, ensuring students meet both athletic and academic requirements.
  • DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION: Maintain accurate records and information for the Athletics Department. Update and maintain the coaches' manual annually.
  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Represent Rock Academy positively at meetings, events, and with external stakeholders, fostering strong community relations and support for the Athletics program.

Acceptable Experience And Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of coaching experience required.
  • Strong communication skills and current knowledge of CIF rules are essential.

Employment At-Will: All employees of Rock Academy are employed at-will, granting both the employee and Rock Academy the right to terminate employment at any time, with or without cause.

SALARY: $75,000/annually commensurate with experience and qualifications.
