Title: AV Design Engineer

Reports To: Director of Design

Position Purpose And Objectives

This position is responsible and accountable for the design of audio-visual systems for customers primarily located in the Southeastern United States (GA, SC, NC, VA) ensuring all financial, programmatic and operating systems meet established targets. This position reports to the Director of Design and is a member of the Design team supporting the mission and goals of a "Best in Class" design program. The AV Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and planning of audio-visual systems that results in the successful installation, test and closeout of projects leading to customer satisfaction and efficient company operations.

This is a remote position requiring occasional travel throughout the southeast region of the United States primarily, but not limited to, GA, SC, NC, and VA. As a national company, opportunities to live and work at job sites across the country are also available.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys to collect accurate information for the purposes of quoting and system design and translate customer requirements into highly functional architectural designs and audio-visual systems
  • Support Sales in customer consultation and needs analysis during opportunity development
  • Assist with the bidding process by reviewing bid documents and making system or product recommendations
  • Provide solutions within the client’s budget without sacrificing quality and reliability
  • Provide design and documentation for proposals detailing material and labor estimates, written statements of work, system narratives, drawings and close-out documentation
  • Develop and document functional narratives, final material lists, cable pull lists, and engineering drawings for infrastructure, rack layout, system wiring, and custom plates or cabling assemblies
  • Design, plan and execute to achieve successful installation, test and closeout of audio-visual systems
  • Initiate and complete engineering review process for new sales orders in a timely manner
  • Create functional one-line and riser diagrams utilizing AutoCAD or similar software
  • Review sales orders for an accurate bill of materials and communicate any changes to company units
  • Generate as-built drawings to complete project closeout documentation
  • Cultivate a common purpose and teamwork among various company units and ensuring timely and effective communication with those units including Operations, Sales, Accounting, Procurement and Purchasing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills And Qualifications

Successful candidates should have at least five years AV experience with an AV integration firm or in-house AV department and be familiar with design principles and practices. Additional experience required include:

  • Experience in the process of quoting, designing, executing and closing out projects leading to customer satisfaction
  • Proven design and project planning skills experience and familiarity with installation methods, wiring and rack building
  • Successful criminal background check, motor vehicle review and drug test prior to start
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with standard office productivity software including Google, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to make important decisions under tight timelines and in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license with less than two citations in last two years and reliable transportation

Preferred Skills And Experiences

  • AV industry certifications such as AVIXA CTS and CTS-D preferred or ability to achieve within 12 months of start date required
  • Comfortable with frequent and direct written communication
  • A desire to progress in job knowledge and qualifications
  • Friendly and approachable
  • A keen attention to detail and an ability to keep a cool head when placed in stressful situations

Pay: $60,000 -- $75,000
