Description
The Campus Advisor is a member of The Jed Foundation (JED)’s Higher Education team and the position is an excellent opportunity for higher education student affairs practitioners and/or mental health clinicians who are seeking to utilize their talents and create impact on a national level. The Campus Advisor will aid in the creation and implementation of strategic plans for member schools which supports in the preventative efforts surrounding student mental health, substance use/misuse, and suicide prevention efforts. The Campus Advisor will engage in reviewing campus processes, programs, and protocols and analyze school-specific data to inform the strategies and guidance that they provide to the school. The Campus Advisor’s experience and knowledge of mental health, the higher education landscape, and campus systems will be utilized in the implementation and development of program delivery to university leadership. The Campus Advisor will report to the Senior JED Campus Advisor and work closely with the entire Higher Education and JED team. The Campus Advisor will work with their colleagues to develop and maintain local partnerships and engage local stakeholders.
This is a remote position, with the intention that Campus Advisor resides within an easy (approx. 60 min) commuting distance from an airport to facilitate transit within the region. The Campus Advisor must have the ability and desire to travel to college campuses, conferences, regional internal meetings as needed. (40% travel, rest of the time working from home).
New York City/Tri State location preferred. Relocation Assistance: Please note that we are currently unable to provide relocation assistance for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building and Advising Support
- Build relationships with school contacts within your assigned portfolio of approximately 30 schools;
- Assist schools in developing and executing strategic plans and measuring the efficacy of the mental health promotion efforts they implement on their campus;
- Provide ongoing support to participating JED Campus schools on mental health promotion, suicide, and substance use programming, services, and policies;
- Serve as a resource consultant to colleges and universities, and to the JED staff;
- Create presentations and reports for various internal and external audiences.
- Conduct programmatic reviews of campus systems within a portfolio of schools; Analyze student data of assigned campuses to inform support provided to schools;
- Draft feedback reports and executive summaries for campus stakeholders;
- Aid campuses in the ongoing assessment of their efforts.
- Benchmark the work of campuses against a measurement rubric;
- Utilized Salesforce to record and codify contacts with participating schools, tracking progress, types of intervention, utilization of resources, etc.;
- Conduct promising practices benchmarking and research for similar industry and college mental health initiatives.
- Master’s degree required, preferably in higher education, psychology/sociology, counseling, public health, or a related field;
- At least 5 years of professional experience working in higher education in any of the following areas: counseling and/or health services, wellness, substance use, suicide prevention, student affairs, and/or public health;
- Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong project management skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication and competency in supporting member campuses through virtual platforms and other forms of communication;
- Experience and confidence with presenting to large groups both in-person and virtually;
- Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking abilities;
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with individuals and organizations;
- Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems is strongly preferred;
- Experience working on a highly effective team is strongly preferred
Pay Ranges:
The range listed on this job posting is based on JED's compensation posting ranges. Salaries may be higher or lower depending on experience and geographic location. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our company’s equity program and our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, mental health, and other benefits offered to permanent benefit-eligible employees.
Location/Travel Information:
Please note that this position is largely remote and based out of the NYS Tri-State Area Only. The role will require retreat/business meetings at JED’s central office in NYC or other locations as designated by JED leadership. Additional travel may be required.
