CDO (Chief Development Officer), Board of Melanin Minds Matter
Melanin Minds Matteris a Houston, Texas based mental health and wellness program that targets school-aged adolescent minority girls from a holistic approach. Our Mission is to improve self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-awareness of young girls of color in preparation for a fulfilling adulthood.
Member of: Melanin Minds Matter board
Term of office: two years with possibility of renewal
Benefits: (1) involvement with development and growth of the program; (2) access to program resources; (3) networking opportunities; and (d) positive change in the community.
Broad Responsibilities: Voluntary, development leader of Melanin Minds Matter. CDO will support and provide expertise as needed to advance the non-profit. The CDO, along with all board members, will: a. be made available for monthly board meetings, b. provide annual, financial contribution to the organization c. assist with fundraising (in some capacity).
Specific Responsibilities:
Ensure execution of fund development according to the company’s values and vision
Establish performance measures and evaluate the productivity of the fund development programs
Understand the target audience and build strong relationships with key individuals/organizations to promote growth
Grow the foundation portfolio and expand donor programs
Establish and implement a fundraising calendar
Spearhead innovative and creative development ideas to attract more funders
Work closely with CEO and COO to develop agenda for monthly meetings
Other duties assigned by CEO (within reason)
Qualifications:
Experience in the field of development
CFRE certificate preferred
Time commitment to the vision and mission of the program
Strong collaborative skills to offer perspective in the best interest of the program
Strong communication skills with board members and key individuals
Strong organizational skills
